Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The DSW PRO Series represents more than a significant step forward in subwoofer performance. With the incorporation of two proprietary Polk Audio technologies, acoustic output is maximized as it reduces audible distortion. Feed Forward is a zero latency system that maximizes dynamic output of the subwoofer system without relying on slow responding feedback techniques. What you hear is quick, precise bass output with minimal audible distortion, even at ground shaking volume levels. The efficiency of a Class D digital amplifier translates into high-power and reliable operation with low distortion. LINE and SPEAKER level inputs ensure easy hook-up compatibility with virtually any system. Signal-sensing Smart Amp Auto ON/OFF Circuitry knows when to turn itself on and off. 5-way Binding posts give you hookup versatility and tight, snug connections. The DSW PRO Series remote control incorporates the Polk Room Optimizer (PRO) feature, four push-button room equalization presets that correct for room boundary effects for typical room placements. Weight - 41.00 pounds (18.60 kgs)

5 out of 5 stars Shakes My Floor   September 20, 2008
C. Publiski (Yosemite, CA USA)
This is a great sub at a great price. All my speakers in my system are Polk Speakers and this sub is a perfect compliment to the others. The included remote is a great feature. It let's you find tune the volume and crossover from your favorite listening position. This particular sub is a bit much for my current location (shakes the room and probably my neighbor's room as well), but it will allow me to upgrade when I can.

4 out of 5 stars Decent sub; good value.   September 13, 2008

I have the DSWPro 500, and I like it. It's a decent sub for the money. I've heard better subwoofers, but they are much more expensive. This one does an reasonably good job at a very good price. I'm happy with it.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent and deep sound   August 24, 2008
J. R. Angulo (NY, USA)
One of the best sub woofer, strongest deeper and very friendly with the neighbors, even a good volume don't disturb the peace of the apartment, you can 'feel' the sound not just listen, this mean enjoy the really good sensation of the movie or music that you are listening. The remote control helps a lot for an easy set up, change the volume, etc. Look very nice with the blue light. Amazing product, thanks Polk Audio, you are my Favorites in speakers. Highly recommended if you are exigent with the sound.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Subwoofer   August 19, 2008
The Saint (Doylestown, PA, USA)
I had a hard time deciding what subwoofer to purchase since there are so many selections in the market. I use my system for both home theater and music and my components are solid quality but not the high end. I was hesitant to go the step up (price mostly) to this subwoofer but after having this subwoofer for 3 months, this product is awesome and I am glad I spent the money. The low sounds are amazing in both movies and music. I have 2 small children and was afraid of keeping them awake at night - there is no issue since it has various settings (such as night setting) and I can set the subwoofer for different times, music, etc. I highly recommend this subwoofer - it is a solid investment and such great quality.

5 out of 5 stars Great Subwoofer loaded with features   May 4, 2008

I recently upgraded to the Polk DSWPro 500. Initially I bought a Polk PSW10 sub to compliment my Monitor 50 floorstanding speakers, which are great but with only dual 5 1/4 woofers, the 50's are lacking in the bass department. The PSW10 was decent, but I was still missing the deep hard hitting bass I had hoped for. The DSWPro 500 took care of that and then some. I'll start with the fit and finish.

This sub is very well built and attractive to look at even though it is all black. The base feet are solid and not cheap like the monitor series speakers or the little nubbins on the PSW10. If you want, you can move the feet to the back side to make it a front firing sub. The speaker is very clean looking and the side port is attractive. In the down firing position, the blue LED light looks very nice and if you don't like the brightness of it, you can turn the light off altogether.

Features and Sound
This sub has very nice features. There are the normal volume and crossover knobs in the back, but what makes this such a cool sub is that it comes with a remote with volume control and equalized settings depending on where in your room the sub is placed. Anything you need done with the sub can be controlled with the remote. As I mentioned before, the LED light looks cool and the fact that you can turn it off is a nice touch.
This sub sounds ridiculous. Some nights I am actually afraid to turn the volume up too loud because this thing shakes the whole house. The bass is tight and clear. When I first bought it, the sound was muddy, but I hadn't set up my receiver crossover settings yet. Don't forget to do that.

I bought this sub for a ridiculously low price of $269... but it was refurbished. Absolutely nothing was wrong with it though. It was like it was brand new. I see that it is selling new for $500, but maybe if you are lucky, you can find it refurbished for the same price I paid. Worth every penny.
