Not for kids under 10. December 30, 2008 Michael B. Wright This is a very fragile toy and will last about 1 hour with an 8 year old boy. It is very cool, but far too delicate for children. Older kids will like it.
Fun toy for the price December 30, 2008 S. Seel (Windsor, CA, USA) My 7 year old daughter received one as a gift for Christmas - wow wee, is this fun to play with! She's crashed it repeatedly and, so far, it is holding up. However, it's only 4 days after Christmas, so it's hard to know how much longer this toy will take so much abuse. She's having some trouble controling the motion - it wants to see-saw up and down. But that doesn't deter her. The short lifespan of the battery is a little disappointing, though this limitation is clearly disclosed so one can't really complain. I'm sure it wouldn't fly as well with a bigger battery. My son liked it so much, he used some of his Christmas money to buy one today, that operates on a different frequency so they can fly at the same time with no interference.
Buy it now December 23, 2008 Douglas Leppard (Orlando, FL) I am a boomer who has never grown up. This Christmas I wanted to play with some cheap airplanes. I have had lots of various airplanes before, helicopters, sailplanes, electric and gas planes. I have crashed them all. I am not the best pilot but I love trying, my hobby room is littered with broken flying machines, all this to give you background to what I am about to say. The dragonfly is just fantastic. Easy to start flying but hard to master, you never feel you are totally in control, kind of like life isn't it? I was hooked right away and as people came over (our house is loaded with people coming over) they all had to try, even my wife who flew it well. Gave it to my 30 year old son for his birthday, he loves it. Well worth it especially since we got it a half price. I started flying outside, wind does affect it but that is part of the challenge. Flying inside is tough in a small space but once you practice you can. BTW we have crashed this thing into about everything and it is tough, with no prop out front to break. Watching this thing fly is fun flapping its wings fascinating to all. Flying it at night is fun with its green eyes glowing. Also go to youtube.com and search on dragonfly, there are hundreds of videos on this flyer, almost a cult thing. Only problem is this is a gateway drug to bigger and faster airplanes. There is a green and blue versions of this, each with their own frequency. Bottom line, buy it now you will like it.
displeasure and disappointment December 17, 2008 B. SHEPARDSON (St. Paul, MN) I bought the wee wee robitic dragon fly for my grandsons, and they were both so pleased to get it, only to be sorely disappointed. One after a few tries and the other after one day when the dragon stopped flying. My both sons sent it back for a credit, but both the grandchildren remain disappointed. And I too am disappointed in the quality of the product. Disappointed cause I was looking forward to giving them a great gift, one they could really enjoy. Boy, was I wrong.I was going to send them gift certificates from Amazon for Christmas but now I think I'll use something more reliable. Like a gift certificate to Barnes & Nobel. Sorry to be so critical but you let me down.
Very good. July 8, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a really great flying toy, out of all the air hogs planes and other various flyers I owned the controls for the dragonfly are by far the best. This is very easy to fly and fun however it does seem to have problems climbing but still, you can get it up in the air fairly high. It also goes at fairly fast speeds when you remove the tail ribbon. Flytech dragonfly does make it a great indoor flyer as well, once you get good that is. And its not like you need a huge empty basement or something to fly it in, I fly mine in my living room all the time which is only about 20 feet wide. If your flying indoors make sure you have the tail ribbon on and the controller is set to expert, expert allows the dragonfly to turn much faster and sharper which really helps avoiding obstacles, but for your first flight make sure to have it on beginner and be outside. The thing is pretty durable as well (I've had mine for over a year and it hasn't broke yet..) those flimsy wings are actually alot more durable than you would expect and if they do happen to break you get a backup pair that comes with it. I guess the only downfall to this is that it can't tolerate any wind, and I mean ANY wind. Just the slightest breeze will have it crashing left and right. But yeah overall this thing is awesome, pick one up if your into flying toys.
