great player for the price December 30, 2008 Wendy Knowlton (Tucson) ok, first of all regarding the player lumping all of the songs into one long list without allowing you to keep them in files is NOT correct. I have several files I made with various artist for working out, or just relaxing. You can use a program such as Hellium ID 3 tag to rename your albums and song so they tag correctly and everything fits in its appropriate place. And, iTunes is an MP4 player, not an MP3...which can be converted...with the right program. You just have to know how to use your software. This player is great. Its simple and easy~ drag and drop your music and photos. I love mine, but then again, I know what I'm doing. I recommend this. It does just as much as a player twice the price. I have 21 albums on mine, 5 of which were created by me using songs from various CD's. I'm not really computer savy, but I find the Go Gear easy. I just wish they had a silicon skin for it.
Good for a first timer December 22, 2008 Mike (Raleigh, NC USA) I received the Philips 2 GB flash video MP3 player as a gift. It is the first player I have ever owned. I read all of the reviews that are posted here, just to see what others thought. I didn't have any major issues with one giagantic playlist and I have subfolders for each artist that I added to the player. The one big difference is I did all the prework when it was connected to my computer (F: drive). I just worked on getting the files copied over. So far I haven't had any issues with folders or subfolders and I currently have about 400 songs loaded in. There were a few things said about turning it off, I have to say I haven't had any issues with that, just press and hold it down until you see the little stars. What I am not happy about is the video function, it doesn't support anything that I have (items from i-tunes or even my digital camera). That being said, I just decided not to use it for video. I travel A LOT and if the battery doesn't last 12 hours like stated, then this would definately not be something I would use when I travel - maybe just to walk or listen to around the house. Overall, I am very pleased with this and am happy to have received it.
Don't buy December 13, 2008 missing sis (jackson, ms) I am not happy at all with this purchase. Most frustrating thing is you can't turn the darn thing off!! It is impossible. I have tried for minutes upon minutes. Customer support is worthless. Buy one with a separate on/off switch. I used to be able to get it off after several minutes but now can't turn off at all, just let it go dead and haven't used it since. I hate this thing.
can not create your own files December 13, 2008 J. Tyler i should have read the 1 star product rate before i bought this product, because she/he stated that you can not organize your music into folders the way you want. This means no mix folder, all the music gets placed into album folders or artist folders, ect. leading to a jumble of music songs. the software is retarded and the Philips website has no solution for this, which i can not understand why. This product is going back to the store!!
Good if you're looking for a cheap player. December 1, 2008 Adam Sims (Kentucky) Note: I think I have a different version, because this one costs only $30 and has no radio. Good price, good quality, enough gigs to hold a lot of music and it's small. The only downsides are that it doesn't play AAC files and it takes forever to upload your music onto it. (Took me nearly an hour to fill it up!)
