While it is not the full 1080p resolution, it has a better resolution than 720p panels at a similar price. Picture quality is further enhanced, thanks to ClearWindow technology that reduces the visibility of a grid structure and maximizes brightness and clarity. p table align=left width=300 cellpadding=10 tr td img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000OK2WHU-1.jpg" border=0 align=topbrbrspan class="caption"The P42H401 has 1080 lines of vertical resolution for a line-for-line match with 1080i TV signals. For a better picture, the processor also performs noise reduction and other picture enhancements, such as dynamic contrast and histogram processing, automatic 3:2 film enhancement, and the capability for 16-bit color. Users can select between four HD and six SD aspect modes, and three preset color temperatures.p bWell Connected/bbr The P50H401 has three HDMI SimplayHD inputs (two rear, one front), the highest quality connection available that has both high definition video and audio in one cable. It also has two component video inputs, one S-Video input, four A/V inputs, and one RF/Antenna input. Outputs include one AV monitor output (fixed audio), one S-Video monitor output, and one optical digital audio output. You can connect the optical digital audio output with your home theater system to obtain surround sound when the built-in 20-watt speaker system isn't quite enough. The TV speaker can then be used as a center speaker.p The HDTV has built-in ATSC/NTSC tuners, both of which are combined into one tuning memory for seamless selection of channels, regardless of format. The unit is also QAM-digital-cable compatible.p bDay and Night Differences/bbr The P50H401 allows for three custom settings that match the picture settings with accompanying ambient light conditions so that you get the optimal picture and contrast settings no matter the hour. Additionally, the anti-reflective screen ensures a quality picture by reducing glare and deepening blacks for more contrast and detail. The television also features multiple screen saver and power saving modes for efficiency when not in use.p The P50H401 is backed by a 1-year parts and labor warranty.P br clear="all" table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="50%" tr td width=90 align="center" valign="middle" img border=0 src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000VSYC9Q-14.jpg" /td td valign="middle"style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;" h3HD1080/h3 Higher overall panel resolution than 720p televisions. 1080 lines of resolution, a line for line vertical match for incoming 1080i TV signal. 1280 x 1080 total panel resolution (1.3 Mega Pixel). /td /tr /table /td /tr /table /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center style="font-size:9px;" /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="50%" tr td valign=top table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="100%" tr td width=90 align="center" valign="middle" img border=0 src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000VSYC9Q-8.jpg" /td td valign="middle" style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;" h3PictureMaster HD IV/h3 Proprietary digital video processor optimizes picture performance of all incoming source material. /td /tr /table /td /tr /table /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center style="font-size:9px;" /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="50%" tr td valign=top table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="100%" tr td width=90 align="center" valign="middle" img border=0 src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000VSYC9Q-10.jpg" /td td valign="middle" style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;" h33 HDMI SimplayHD 1080p Compatible Inputs/h3 Multiple high-end digital interfaces for optimal connectivity of home theater components. /td /tr /table /td /tr /table /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center style="font-size:9px;" /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="50%" tr td valign=top table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="100%" tr td width=90 align="center" valign="middle" img border=0 src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000VSYC9Q-11.jpg" /td td valign="middle" style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;" h3ClearWindow Plasma Technology/h3 Smoother image reproduction with higher brightness output and less visible grid structure. /td /tr /table /td /tr /table /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center style="font-size:9px;" /td /tr tr td colspan=2 align=center table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="50%" tr td valign=top table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 width="100%" tr td width=90 align="center" valign="middle" img border=0 src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B000VSYC9Q-7.jpg" /td td valign="middle" style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;" h3Day/Dynamic/Night Memory by Input with Timer/h3 Three customized settings for each input that match the picture settings to the ambient light conditions of the viewing environment. /td /tr /table /td /tr /table br clear="all" bWhat's in the Box/bbr P50H401 plasma HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, 6-foot AC power cord cable, and table top stand. br clear="all"

Great TV for the money August 22, 2008 R.J. Dawson (Middletown,DE) I've had this tv for almost a year and I've had no problems with it. Good color/sound, the price was right for the time ($1600) and it's held up really well. The speakers are kind of weak but that's what surround sound is for. br / br /This tv is hard to beat for the money- a good quality product with good resolution and a good price point. br / br /There are better deals out there NOW but this is still a good bang for the buck!
Beware Screen Burn ! April 24, 2008 R. Mullineaux (So Cal, CA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this exact model in August 2007 from Amazon. Now, in April 2008 there is plenty of screen burn such as the CNBC logo and the HIstory Channel logo. I called Hitachi to check the warranty and screen burn is not covered under warranty. Hitachi just said sorry, you have to live with it or buy another one. I will NEVER buy a Hitachi again. Another huge complaint is the remote. The button layout sucks and the remote has to be pointed exactly at the remote sensor on the tv or it doesn't work even with fresh batteries. Also, when you change the channels there is a huge delay (a black screen)before the next channel appears. If your a channel surfer you will be in a nightmare. DO NOT BUY THIS PLASMA TV !
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! December 30, 2007 George Colson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
br /I Love this TV!! br /OK,it is not a true 1080, but it was also a grand less any 1080 TV's and priced below the 720 close out deals. Sears put it on sale for $1,299.99 and with a four year warrenty it came to $1,600.00. The picture quality is excellent, it just took a while to figure out how to turn it on. br / br /the Audio could be better, but go through a reciver and you will be happy.
Love it!! December 28, 2007 L. K. Greenwood Jr. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We love the Plasma TV. First one we have owned. I know it is not a true 1080, but a savings of 600-800 dollars is very convincing. The picture quality is excellent.
Great HDTV! December 27, 2007 K. Cann (sedro-Woolley, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this TV right before Thanksgiving for $998 at BestBuy and love it. This is first HDTV for us and we are very pleased so far. True, it's not 1080p but the picture quality is superb for 1080i and I'm not sure I'd know the difference anyways. br / br /It was easy to set up and we were watching it in no time flat. Very nice, good size HDTV for the price.
