i heart my tv September 18, 2008 A. Stephens (Boston, MA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
ok. Lets say this: another impulsive buy. I had a bad day, next thing you know, I was gazing at tvs in best buy. I didn't know much at all about the differences 720, 1080, plasma, lcd. etc etc. So I learned as much as possible in say, a 4 hour time span and this was the tv I picked. I also loved the sale price(would NEVER buy one unless it was on sale, so I had the pick of the litter...of what was currently on sale at the time). I'm glad I got LCD, it's more energy efficient then plasma. Plus, I'd always heard plasma horror stories about the screen breaking. I wasn't TOO worries about 720-vs-1080, but I'm a very easy to convince girl. As long as I was talking to the right person who didn't scare the crap out of me about the differences, I was all set. Plus I don't sit around analyzing the grass on the football field, which is apparently where this difference REALLY matters(to the men who like sports). I could barely tell the difference between any of the 50 tvs on the wall. Just knew which was brighter and had nice colors. I've had the TV since...maybe april or may and I really enjoy it. I watch dramas, ghost hunters(it's great for actually being able to see the minute ghost they're referring to) and well, generally I watch a lot of tv(though I'm not proud to say that). I've gotten used to the HD channels really hogging my dvr, but seeing it full screen is much nicer then the box in the middle from the regular channels. At first i didnt get WHY HD was sooooooo much cooler(especially to my boyfriend) but eventually I hopped on the band wagon. I can analyze the muscles of the guys on prison break much better now. Thank you LG. gotta love HD. It hasn't malfunctioned, is great for playing the wii, and though at first it seemed way too big for the living room, I have now adjusted quite nicely and really really heart 3 my tv.
Have had MAJOR SCREEN PROBLEMS June 29, 2008 Tommywood (NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Ca USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am happy that most people who gave good reviews for this tv are happy, sadly I am not one of them. I bought this tv back in march 2008. two months later, a red vertical line showed up on the screen. I called Lg since of course it is under warranty and they sent a repairman to diagnos the problem. turns out the entire screen had to be replaced. so, they replaced the screen and that very night, I notice two purple spots as well as 3-4 other shadowing spots on the screen, this really angers me because the second screen was ordered directly from LG. I am in the process of trying to get a refund and I want to get another brand of tv. I am sorry , I have heard that LG products are good but In my case , it has been nothing but a bad experience and I cannnot recommend this tv.
Surprisingly Amazed May 1, 2008 M. Fisher (Lots of Trees, IN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this tv for a screaming good deal (Under $800 - NEW). We do not even have cable in my house so I was weary of purchasing a HD TV. We went from getting 7 channels to 52 channels! I was amazed. Not only does it receive ch 2 and ch 5 (which never was possible before for us where we live), it receives 2 variations of channel 5! The picture quality is absolutely amazing so far. I haven't even had a chance to watch a Blu-Ray Disc yet! We are surrounded by forested areas and have a tree cover over the house, so I can't believe how well the receiver works. The sound is also incredible. I actually want to watch TV now. Hopefully, it doesn't make me a couch potato!
Great 720p TV! April 6, 2008 TomDaBomb (Phoenix,AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great tv! takes up little space, looks great and sounds great! The brightness is amazing and the HD is awesome! I use hdmi cables for an upconverter and hd cable box.The picture quality on regular channels is better than samsung, sharp, misubishi. Analog cable is clearer but no hd capability. It has a built in hd antenna but it quit workin after a few months. Cable hd offers way more anyway.I have had a few blochy moments but overall I can't complain, I do wish I woulda spent the money and got full hd capability though. Also if your payin for heat you can turn it off, this baby gets warm! Not too bad though, better than anything philips or sony has to offer!
This TV is cursed! February 19, 2008 A. Malkin 0 out of 17 found this review helpful
The first sign something was wrong was when the price went up while it sat in my online cart. Since it was still a good deal and it was the only 42 inch that would fit on my shelve I decided to buy it. br / I choose to pick it up at the store with my 5 and 6 year old . I approached the sales clerk and passed him the receipt. While waiting I hear a gagging noise coming from my son. He's throwing up all over the floor, as I'm helping him I hear the same gagging noise coming from behind me and look to see a sick clerk rushing off to the bathroom. br / Everything calms down enough to get the tv home. Excited I grab my old Tv which is 100 lbs and put it on the floor, well actually on my finger. which hurt like hell and brought on a mild case of Tourette's. br / I lift up the new tv and try and slid it on the shelf which is about 5 foot up and built over the fireplace. I can't get it to fit in between the shelf and ceiling. Come to find out the Tv is not 27" as stated under the spec's but close to 30". br / My kids start giving me a hard time since they were missing Sponge Bob Square pants. Leaving the Tv on the floor I to a quick hook up and wallah, nothing. br / Crap, now I have to read the directions. ok now everything is hooked up and nothing. so thinking I shorted out the cable box I call the cable company and they happen to have a tech in the area. He stops buy checks a few things and notices I never reconnected the cable line back to the box. br / So I now have two tv's sitting on the floor and a empty shelf. I really do not know anything about the Tv yet but maybe when it shrinks a little I can watch it on the shelf it was supposed to fit on.
