Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?
 | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

This TV is a great picture - I even use a standard antenna and it can pick up the digital information out of the air and put on a fabulous picture of clarity on the digital channels....very nice design, sleek, never even notice the red ring outside - awesome delivery.
The main problem is that I cannot figure out how to get my PS3 connected to this tv via hdmi (av cables work but picture quality is same as a regular tv). I've tried everything holding down ps3 pwr button to reset, changing 480 to higher resolution but I'm beginning to see that Samsung and Ps3's aren't really compatible. I've talked to support lines for hours and they are no help - I finally bought a composite connection and see if that will work although it will be less quality than my $50 HDMI sony cord....the cord works with my camcorder so I know the TV and cord work. My Ps3 is fine too....I would not recommend buying this TV for use with a Sony PS3.

The 1 star is for the CEVA shipping company all the way. I live in Northern Virginia and my TV was coming form Ohio. All seemed fine as I ordered Sunday and by Wensday I was being contacted for a delivery time the following day (today). Well I selected between 12-4 right now it is 5:30 and still no TV. I have definantly missed a day of work for these slackers. The driver was supposed to call 30min before arrival, well that did not happen I had to call him. Then he told me he would be here in an hour.... it's been 2.
A huge thumbs down to CEVA, I hope my tv get's here today as i'm not trying to skip another days work.
Good thing it was free shipping b/c I would be looking for a refund otherwise.
Samsung 750 46" is the way to go July 24, 2008I bought the 40" samsung 650 at bestbuy (never again) it was a fine TV really but MY 46" Samsung 750 just came and WOW!!!!!! no wait... Did I say WOW!!!
I waited 3 years research, saving and shopping and now its here. All I can say is its amazing.
Compared to the 40" it's only 6" more but its the difference of oh and WOW
by the way it was the same price as the 40" from BB
Amazon rules !!!! I shopped around a lot and they had almost the best price but after reading all the nightmares people were having with the really cheap guy, I went with Amazon and could not be happier it came 4 day early. White glove delivery which means they set it up for you.
As my brother said to me to help me buy this TV.. " You want it. You saved for it. Do it, Get it. buy it. just get it. This is the one, you know its the one..... GET IT ALREADY!

First of all let me state that I moved my 40-inch SAMSUNG 720P TV up to the bedroom - a good set that introduced me to HDTV. The LN46A750, however, is a stunning TV watching experience compared to the 40-incher. Rarely do I use profanity in a positive way but the words "Holy S..T" just slipped out of my lips when I first laid eyes on the picture.
As I annotate my experience with the LN36A750 I will try not to be repetitive of previous reviews - details as follows:
Response to previous viewers:
- The so-called halo effect is simply a line around the outside (top and bottom) of the glass frame that is more noticeable in the evening. This line is the LCD picture light slipping out of the edge of the glass frame. This is not a big deal to me and has no impact on my viewing pleasure.
- The TOC red line around the outside of the frame was actually surprising as it bothered a number of reviewers. I actually thought it was a light; it is not. It is simply a red stripe on the clear glass frame and is not at all noticeable unless there is bright light coming in from behind the TV.
- Glare on screen - not an issue at all and my TV is in a well lit room during the day.
Negatives:
- The TV is capable of a wireless interface - this is only good if you have a CAT 5 outlet near your TV. If not, one must go wireless. The SAMSUNG proprietary device is severely back ordered. It sure would be nice if this capability came with a built-in wireless function.
- Sound... I have a surround sound system that does not seem completely synced with the TV sound - gives it a slight echo effect. The TV sound alone is about as good as TV audio gets but I have it muted and use my SS system exclusively.
Positives:
Picture quality, picture quality, picture quality. From the moment I viewed the full HD picture with the 120hz processor, I was blown away. There are a million ways to customize the view and a great data point can be downloaded from CNET (tips, picture settings) to input a "perfect" dark room picture for the LN46A750 - it is much improved over the presets that come with the TV. There are also three "hardened" picture settings known as "ENTERTAINMENT" that cannot be changed; kinda nice to slip over to the SPORTS setting and have a look during a baseball game - The Fenway Green Monster never looked so good. And fast motion blurring? What blurring?
Delivery: Quick, well mannered, attention-to-detail.
Price: Way better than BB or CC by hundreds = looking forward to the price dropping so I can put some more cash in my jeans with the Amazon 30-day price guarantee.
Frame... or bezel as some folks call it is sleek and unique.
Recommendation: If you are torn between a 650 and a 750 you might want to really research the issue. For me the prices were so close it did not make a difference but if the 650 drops, you may want to give that a closer look. As for me, I am in HDTV la-la land and watch shows I would normally not give a second thought to simply because of the stunning picture - very happy.

After months of research, I was sold on this TV, but the price at the outlet stores held me back from pulling the trigger. So this review really is not on the TV, because this is currently the best LCD on the market hands down! look in that for yourself! This review is really on purchasing a major item through AMAZON.
When a friend told me to check out the price at AMAZON! I did and UNREAL! Amazon was $400 below Best Buy and Circuit Cityand because I live in Michigan - no sales tax - UNREAL. I was very sceptical to buy on-line, so I again did much research on AMAZON and their white glove deliver. Well even though I was a little nervous, I ordered the TV. The price was great and I have since called due to a lower price and they gladly credited my card back the difference (they price match for 30 days - but it must be in stock through AMAZON).
The TV arrived and everything was above my exceptations. You can track your order very easily through AMAZON'S website. My TV arrived without an issue within about 1 week. The delivery service called to setup a delivery time. Showed up on time in a very professional manner. Took the TV out of the box and placed it on the stand. Then made sure it powered up! They will take away your box but I recommend to keep it in case of a return. Overall, this experience was great - I have a great TV and I saved about $400 buck a roni's! If your going to mount your TV to a wall make sure your order your bracket through amazon as well - about $150 less than Best Buy!
