2 out of 5 stars Stopped working in 6 months   May 31, 2006

Basic machine, functioned satisfactorily for 6 months, but then stopped playing or recording. Tech support said to clean the laser, which I knew was not the problem, and of course $15 later it still did not work. They then said that the laser had gone bad. I could take it in for repair. That might cost more than the machine, but I told them I would consider it since the warranty still covered parts for 1 year. I was informed that the company had decided not to honor the warranty any more! br / br /I won't buy another GoVideo product.

1 out of 5 stars BIG, BIG, LET DOWN!!   February 15, 2006

First of all, I have the GoVideo Dual Deck VCR player which I got about 5 years ago and that works excelently, so when it came time to upgrade my DVD player, I thought... br /"why not GoVideo"? br / br /I"ll tell you why not... br / br /Their DVD player/recorder is a piece of CRAP. Let's start with that. br / br /I wanted a DVD player that could also record. br / br /While this one did just that, it seemed to have a mind of it's own. br / br /I'd only owned the damned thing for 2 months when it started acting up. br / br /e.g. When you insert a DVD disc, what do you expect? br / br /For the TV screen to show the DVD main menu, right? br / br /And when it is on the main menu, and the "PLAY" option is highlighted, meaning, if you press "play" or "OK" on the remote it should play the movie, right? br / br /WRONG! br / br /If you press "OK", it doesn't work. br / br /what happens, a blue blank screen appears on the TV screen. br / br /You have to press "play" only, apparently. br / br /And that was only after a couple months. br / br /And now it's been 9 months and my DVD player/recorder - which by the way, cost me about $170 - is not working. br / br /No "main menu", NOTHING! br / br /Hell, my homie has a regular $45 DVD player that he's had longer than me (and not from GoVideo) and the darn thing is still working! br / br /As far as I'm concerned, this is the last product I'll ever buy from GoVideo!!!! br / br /I wish there was a less than 1 rating!
