LOVE IT October 4, 2008 V. Baker CanoScan8800F This devise enables me to enter my 5000 or so slides into my I-MAC computer.
Scanner for all media October 3, 2008 Graham Thirsk (Seattle) The ability to can slides, negatives and prints with little difficulty makes this scanner the most useful I have ever owned. br /It could be faster but the output quality is more than adequate
Best scanner in this price range October 3, 2008 Tell It Like It Is (good ole USA) I am running this scanner under Windows Vista. Set up was really simple and fast. The scanner does not require a warm up, so scans are very rapid. Color definition is excellent. The included software is very functional and makes operating the scanner a breeze. I have owned HP, Epson, and other Canon scanners and this unit represents the best combination of features, quality, and price! You can't go wrong with this one!
Great product! Worth buying. October 2, 2008 Paul Mcclain (Cleveland, OH USA) I've held off on buying a scanner that would also scan film and slides for several years because the pricing was too high and the performance slow. After reading the previous buyers reviews I decided to take the plunge, and I can say it was worth the wait! br /This scanner is relatively quick and very painless to use. It also has lots of corrective features to enhance old and dusty slides, film, etc. I inherited several boxes of my Dad's old slides from the 50's onward and I'm now in the process of scanning in and retouching them. I'd say on a good night of about two hours I'll scan in and retouch about 20 slides. I'm pretty much a novice at this, so I'm sure there's a faster way, but I'm impressed with the results and sure you will be, too.
Best scanner I have found for the price October 2, 2008 Whatsituya (Bumfuk, Egypt) I put this scanner, an HP scanner, and an Epson scanner in my cart as I researched all three. I had decided it would be either the Canon or Epson, when suddenly the Canon dropped to $101 on Amazon (and free shipping). I took the $77 drop in price as an good omen, so I ordered it. It is well made, and makes wonderfull scans of my color prints. I did notice some white dust and lint showing on my scans, and a close look at the glass with a flashlight showed dust on the glass. I cleaned it with some glass cleaner on a lint-free cloth, and it works great. I read where another reviewer said it was plastic, but it really is glass and can be cleaned as glass. I searched "cleaning scanner glass" for instructions as Canon does not mention cleaning. I really got this scanner to scan 120 film negatives as I have just returned to this style of photography, though I haven't been able to get the film developed yet to try it. In the end, I found that of the scanners I had in my cart, only this one includes film holders for 120 film, as well as 35mm slides and 35mm negatives. Loading the driver and using the scanner are a breeze on my XP computer, and Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and 5.0 for Mac and XP/Vista.
