 Coolest phone I've ever owned - simple enough for the wife October 27, 2008

I'm a serious techie - I don't NEED a phone that'll bond with my cell phones and let me make calls through them...a phone that'll let me assign a different [pre-loaded] picture or ringer for people in my phone book...a phone that glows and looks like the most modern remote the wife has ever seen with a beautiful color display, while having all the functionality I ask for in a digital cordless/answering machine. br / br /I don't need it, but I seriously crave it, so I bought it. I'm completely satisfied. If forced to come up with a complaint, it would be that the display in the base unit is a bit crooked - like it wasn't mounted correctly inside. No biggie though...if it bothers me enough I'll rip it apart. br / br /My wife was a bit intimidated by it at first - she complains that I buy things specifically that she won't be able to operate - but after using it a few times, she realized that the bells whistles don't overshadow the fact that this is a high quality, crystal clear digital cordless phone...period. The extras don't have to be used, which is good for someone wanting to make a simple phone call. br / br /Definitely recommend.

I am a representative for a small company and have always preferred to use my cell number for the business. However, there is one very large problem with that system - where I live, I get ZERO cell coverage at my house. I am up in the hills, and coverage is terrific everywhere else, but for whatever reason, I'm *lucky* if I'm able to use my cell at home. Typically, this means standing in one spot and trying not to breathe while having as short a conversation as possible. I invested in an iPhone, and this has helped quite a bit, but still not to the extent that I would be able to speak/hear clearly for any extended amount of time. br / br /Against the advice of a friend (he had never tried this phone), I purchased this to see if it would help. I just figured that if it didn't work for me, I could always return it. Well, the thing rocks. Here's why: br / br /*It was incredibly easy to synch my iPhone with the vTech. It holds the synch quite well - it will occasionally drop after my cell has been out of range for an extended period of time, but it's a very simple matter to re-synch. br / br /*I'm not sure how this works as I'm not a tech-type person, but I can make and receive phone calls extremely clearly now when I use the handset vs. my cell. There is very little difference in the sound quality between the regular land-line and my cell on the handset. br / br /*It is easy to use - again, I'm not very techy. Complicated things tend to confuse me ;) This is, for the most part, common sense to use the everyday functions. br / br /I do not have experience with needing to synch multiple handsets. We only have the one at this point, and if/when we get another, that will be the only other one. We just don't need more than 2 handsets in the house. So, that is not an issue for me. Nor do I use some of the more obscure functions - just no need. br / br /Basically, if you're just looking for a great phone that will synch easily with your cell (and, if you're lucky, improve upon quality as well!) and does all the basic stuff fairly easily, then this would be a great one to have!

Great concept, however the phone will not successfully link with two cell phones of the same type, as its software cannot differentiate between the separate bluetooth addresses. I have given each cell a unique name, but the Vtech can't seperate them. We have two RAZR V3A cells, and if I link both to the base I lose all cell audio. Vtech says it is a known problem they cannot do anything about (no ability to update firmware on this unit!). They may address it on next generation models. Do not buy this if your family has two of the same types of cell phones.

Great slick looks. Pretty good talk quality, but after less than two years I am ready to toss it out. Drops calls frequently ('searching for base'). If I want a phone to drop calls, I can always take my cell phone into a tunnel. There is zero excuse for dropping a call with a phone with new batteries when I am in the same room as the base station. Avoid.

This Vtech LS5145 is a great phone. It has great features, sounds fantastic and it is very easy to set-up. br /The only reason I gave this Vtech only 4 stars is, I would like to enter my own photos. Otherwise it has everything I need. br /The Bluetooth option is fantastic. When at home, I can leave my cell anywhere in the house and answer it with my Vtech. Love it! I recommend this phone highly. br / br /
