I would not recomend the Honeywell TE-923W November 9, 2008 Donald R. Savat I purchased the Honeywell TE-923W, the software that come with it does not work on windows Vista. Also the unit keep losing its signal from the remote sensors. The remotes are less than 20 ft from the main unit. This is my second Honeywell. I have first purchased TE821 and it did not hold its signal either. I should have bought a Davis weather station. All my friends have Davis and have no problems with them at all. With a name like Honeywell, I thought this would be a great unit. I was wrong.I'm very unhappy with the Honeywell TE-923W. I hope this will help you out in your choice. Thanks, Don
Costly Mistake August 18, 2008 Trish (South TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this station as a Christmas present, very impressive product until the rain sensor went out less than 2 months. Honeywell replaced free of charge. Always been skeptical about the wind sensor didn't seem accurate. Almost a year, rain sensor out again. Honeywell replaced again free of charge but this one won't even register on the screen did everything the Honeywell techs told me to do nothing works. Now,on top of that the wind sensor is out, tried everything, Honeywell will not replace it is a little over a year and the warranty is out. All I have now is a very expensive thermometer.
Nice Instrument Pack and Display. Frequently Loses Connection with Temperature Sensor May 25, 2008 Daniel E. Pagliaro (Albuquerque, NM USA) The TE923W does a really good job in recording precipitation, barometric pressure, and indoor temperature. I also like the large backlit LCD display and USB connectivity. There is still much room for improvement though. The main display unit often loses connectivity with the outdoor temperature/humidity sensor, requiring frequent manual resets of the display unit to restore connectivity with the sensor. Also, the wind speed indicated by the anemometer is about one-third the actual wind speed. Finally, the computer display software is very crude and archaic. I found some generic weather logging software online that contains a much more robust suite of features for storing, displaying, and processing data received through the TE923W. The user's manual is not helpful at all, especially when it comes to connectivity issues between the main unit and the sensors. Also, remember to place your temperature sensor in a shady area. You'll get a false temperature reading if you place the temperature sensor in a sunlit area.
Don't Waste Your Money April 28, 2008 John T. Flickinger (Millville, NJ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product after reading many of the issues associated with the original product had been addressed. Boy, was I wrong. The first thing you notice is that the User Manual is very poorly written. Instructions are very unclear and in some instances contradictory. The terminology used to describe the individual components indicate that the instructions may have been translated by someone with limited technical abilities. Then there is the software. This is the most poorly written software I have ever seen. The instructions are terrible and it does not work - you can not input your location information and expect correct sunrise and sunset calculations. Worse, the software included is NOT the software indicated on the package. Hideki's answer, "...well we did not charge you for the software." You have to be kidding! Finally there is the poorest support you can imagine. The wind sensor did not work. I called, three times before I got someone who would return my call. They agreed to send a replacement. They never did. Finally, I fixed it myself. If you want a toy, and a toy that will frustrate you - since setting it up, the rain gauge, and the thermo-hygrometer have both failed - then by all means buy this product. I would listen to the reviewers, avoid Hideki like the plague. It is a real shame to see the Honeywell name attached to this junk!!! Poor product, and poor support!!
Many Technical Problems, Poor User Manual, Very Limited April 19, 2008 Stephen Stough 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The 433 MHz sensor links work very well, but the sensor-to-base-station software protocols are very unreliable. For example, if the UV sensor doesn't report often enough, the base station logs it offline PERMANENTLY, and the only way to fix it is to reboot the base station (remove all power and batteries). This happens about once every 3 days. Altitude compensation only goes up to 1650 feet (+/-). I live at 5,775 ft, so the barometer reading is useless to me without doing some mental math. The worst technical problem is the software (v.1.3 of WeatherCapture). Try as I might, I cannot get this software to download data from the base station; and I am a senior engineer at an aerospace company! Finally, the user manual is (a) a very poor translation from Chinese and hard to read, (b) disorganized (set-up instructions scattered throughout the descriptive sections) and (c) has no base-station-to-PC setup protocol instructions. Neither are there any set-up instructions with the software distribution disk. Very nice workmanship on the base station and remote controller. Flimsy sensors (all-plastic). If you want to actually record your data, you will need a working PC interface, which this apparently doesn't have; and you should spend more money on a more-professional set of gear.
