Amazon.com Product Description Get the most from Blu-ray movies and other high-definition media with the advanced performance of the Sony HT-SS2000 Home Theater System. This system includes a powerful 5.1 channel A/V receiver pushing 1000 Watts of power (RMS). Featuring Bravia Theatre Sync, the HT-SS2000 also offers easy one-touch operation of compatible Sony HDMI components, so you no longer need to juggle multiple remote controls. Bravia Theatre Sync technology goes beyond simple audio and video transmission when combined with a select number of Bravia LCD televisions. Control functions will also be transmitted via the HDMI cable. With One Touch Play, operations that took several steps have been reduced to one. The receiver detects and receives the best possible video and audio signals from all connected devices, making connection and performance as simple as plugging in a single wire. Sony's HDMI Active Intelligence produces both audio and video through one HDMI cable. Connect the included microphone and with a push of a button, the speakers are automatically adjusted to your favorite listening position. Additionally, the simplified front-side audio and video connections make it easy to play music stored on portables through the receiver.

A great product December 14, 2008 N. Gil (Dominican Rep.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It`s a great component for music and video. My concern is that I had to buy a new DVD because the one that I used for years did not have an HDMI output wich is the kind of image that you will need for this home theather. I have not try the blue ray with this component but the other features (like the quality of sound) are ok.
Does not ship to Hawaii December 1, 2008 David M. Mecham (Hawaii) 0 out of 9 found this review helpful
After 2 hours of comparison shopping I thought I had a great item, but when doing the checkout it does not ship to Hawaii, so if you live Hawaii, don't bother.
Great Home Theater For The Price! November 17, 2008 Scot Scheuring (Raleigh, NC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this unit for close to a year now and I've been totally pleased with it. It was very easy to setup and has excellent sound for the price. While many reviewers on here say they had problems with the auto-calibration and it made the unit sound awful/tinny, I had absolutely no problems with it and it worked great for me. Maybe it depends on the size/setup of the room you have it in? If you do decide to use auto-calibration and aren't satisfied with the sound quality, I would suggest following the advice of the others on here and reset the unit and/or make manual adjustments. I'm using a regular Sony DVD player (haven't taken the Blu-Ray plunge yet), Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, AppleTV, Dish Network, and Sirius satellite radio with this unit, and it all works great. To everyone giving bad reviews, low stars, and complaining because this unit does not have a Blu-Ray player integrated with it: YOU NEED TO RESEARCH AND READ THE DESCRIPTION MORE CAREFULLY!!! The title for this product says *FOR* Sony Blu-Ray players, NOT with. The description also says "NOTE: Blu-Ray player NOT included." Not every home theater system has a disc player included with it, and this is one of them. You would see this if you were to read more carefully. Another clue that this unit doesn't include a player is that it costs less than a standalone Blu-Ray player. Anyone who thinks they can get a home theater system including a player for less money than a standalone player has got to be totally nuts. Just because you didn't read/research properly is no reason to give low stars or a bad review. The reason it says *FOR* Sony Blu-Ray players is because the front of it is constructed to match the look of standalone Sony Blu-Ray players. This is so if you own or purchase a standalone Sony player you can have a matching look between your audio/video equipment.
Best boom for the $ September 15, 2008 G. Thomas (Cape Cod,Mass) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been waiting for a system to be in the right price range and have audio sent through HDMI. I got that and more. I have my PS3,X-Box 360 and a HD-DVD player attached to the receiver.Just hit the corresponding button on the remote that you have that items HDMI hooked into and you are good to go. I do have an Optical cable going from the TV to the Receiver and with this system I am in the middle of my favorite movies. There are a good amount od sound schemes to go with what you watching ( Action,sports,music...) or you can set it to auto and let it set its self.
Nice Unit ~! August 3, 2008 A. Gimenez (League City, TX. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this unit for close to 4 months now. One of the main reasons for getting this unit was the multiple HDMI ports on the back and the 1000 watt capability. Despite what many reviews say on here, the sound is truly amazing. While its not as nice as the Bose, its pretty high up their. Their are a few times when I hear noises through one of the side speakers and think its a noise in the other room. The auto-calibrate is bogus and the menu through the small lcd screen does get annoying sometimes, but overall its a great surround sound system for the price. I have the bass setting fairly low, and even then it cause some rattling with furniture in the room. I would not recommend this for someone in an apartment, as it can get pretty loud without realizing it (found out the hard way). The audio sync function is great for matching up with the TV speakers, as sometimes one will have a slight delay. Note: The center channel does not line up with the Sony SU FL300L TV stand brackets. If you have this TV stand and want to attach the center channel in its described location, you will have to either drill new holes or get different brackets.
