Excellent Radio December 15, 2008 Yed Prior (NC) I've owned this unit for a little more than a year. It has excellent sound and clairity and in my opinion is as good as the Bose Wave. Some functions are accessable only by the remote, and setting the alarm is a little tricky the first time. The display is a little bright, but I don't keep it on the night stand, so it's not a problem. It pulls in fringe stations very well, plays CDs with excellent fidelity and the Aux and USB functions work very well. I only wish it had one thing, A BATTERY BACK-UP FOR THE CLOCK. The station presets as well as the alarm settings will not be lost during a power outage, but the clock will default back to 12:00 which makes the alarm function useless. If it had a battery back-up, it would be perfection and I would have given it 5 stars. Oh well, if you're looking for a good table top radio that looks good, sounds good and at a good price, I would recommend this one.
wr-3 November 2, 2008 Roger A. Thompson (MN) Love the radio. But light is way tooooo bright. Lights up the whole room. Not sure what I'm going to do about it yet.

I was looking for an audio setup for our bedroom. Sometimes I get tired of my full audio setup in the living room. Looked at PC spkrs. Seemed expensive proposition for I needed to buy an ipod too to play music. And cannot play our CDs without a CD Player. Radio listening has to remain MONO from one of the my portables. Then I turned to table tops. On the net I came across ONKYO CBX100,CBX300, YAMAHA TSX100,PHILIPS DCM230,BOSE WAVERADIO. Not many reviews about ONKYO/YAMAHA. And CBX300 not available in Abu Dhabi yet. PHILIPS not rated well. BOSE expensive. Sangean is known to me for I own a couple of their radios. Great sound, good sensitivity. Had seen WR3 on their website some months back and searched for a review. Same as ONKYO CBX300 - not many reviews. Then I remembered ROBERTS too rebadge SANGEAN and came across ROBERTS MP23. It is the same system as WR3 but with DAB in the UK.So many reviews and perhaps none has said bad about it. The reviews before me here too say good about WR3. Went for WR3. $190 in Abu Dhabi. It rocks. great clear sound. where does the bass come? with 3D sound ON it gives a spatial effect. Plays CD/MP3,USB flash,SD cards.can save all that money I need to spend for an ipod. need to get only a few flash drives/SD that can take all our CDs. very good FM reception with just its telescopic aerial. good AM sound too. wooden cabinet. piano finish. can adjust bass and treble while others have preset EQ. And I found it can take WMA CDs though the manual said MP3 CDs and MP3/WMA from USB/SD card!! What more is required? Only thing is it restarts CD when source is changed and you come back to the CD.There are no buttons and remote operation only no buttons on the system. The blue light may be annoying for some at night.
The Best Table Top August 2, 2008 Bob (Long Beach, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had read reviews of most of the high-end table-top radios with CD - Bose, Cambridge, Polk, Tivoli and a few others. No iPod connection required for me, though it has a line-in. The radio does AM/FM, CD (MP3), USB Flash (though it sticks out the front) and up to 2GB SD cards. I ripped my CD collection to high quality 320kbps - just over 2MB per minute. I bought a 3-pack of 2GB SD cards and each 1 holds about 15 hours of music. The sound is fantastic and as good as any mid-priced stereo receiver/speakers. It fills a medium size room loudly and at soft "talking party" volume, it fills a large room with excellent sounds. 1 nit - The unit must be controlled by the remote. The front knob only does on/off and volume. The remote is a small flat device that needs to be within about 10-12 feet of the radio and pointed straight towards the front. Highly recommended.
Great Featured Radio June 22, 2008 Mark Litman (Tempe AZ USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this radio for my kitchen, which is a high traffic, high use area. It has great sound but the features are the real sell. I was frustrated because most everything out there was focused on the iPod which I will never own. Also, most of the CD players will play mp3s but not wma format. My collection of thousands of songs are wma. This radio plays mp3 and wma formats from 3 different sources (USB drive, SD card or CD). It also has an aux jack so I can plug my (non-iPod) player in. Now, my kids and I can each have our own music on whatever media we like and just plug it in. On top of all this, it has RDS (Radio Data System) that tells you the names of songs and groups from radio stations that participate. I have always loved this feature on my car radio. Now for the downside. All the functionality is on the remote. All you can do from the radio is power and volume. I would have liked a little more functionality available on the radio. Also, there does not seem to be a way to make it so the RDS display is the default. I have to hit the mode button when I switch to a station that supplies RDS. This radio is a little pricey but well worth it and much less expensive than the Bose Wave radio that has nowhere near the features.
