Art project December 22, 2008 Myron R. Grover Jr. (Portland, Oregon USA) I bought this player to use a source of music for an mixed media art project I was creating. It worked just fine for that purpose. I use an Apple Classic ipod for serious music listening.
Poor Quality Product - Expect Problem! December 16, 2008 Sanray (Worthington, Ohio USA) I bought 5 of these players planning to use them as Christmas Greetings for special friends. Unfortuneately, the player could not be turned on! I replaced the battery supplied with a known good battery (per enclosed Instruction manual suggestion). Player still could not be turned on. I opened two of the players of the 5 received; after much frustrating effort neither could be turned on! I assumed the other players received were also defective and did not open them. I'm returning all 5 to Amazon as defective. Obviously, Coby's product quality control is very suspect! So, when considering a Coby product be aware that you may very well be buying problems.
Competency at a Low Price December 11, 2008 Violet 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought mine at around seven dollars. True, as others have said there are some problems with it, such as having to listen to music in the order you place them. But at such a reasonable price why not? I look for practicality, like many I do not have money that I can toss around so to me, this is a very reasonable buy. I've had it for over a year now with no problems, and recently gave it to my mother who enjoys it equally as much.
Good but lacks usb charging December 10, 2008 SShanRK (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good player but needs to be improved to compete in the market. Should have USB charging option also and does not play protected files, so you should have knowledge on type of music file to copy the files to the player. Some times does not get switched on, you have to press and hold the start button for more than 5 seconds, by description if you hold for 3 seconds it will get switched off. Some times hangs. Uses AAA alkaline battery so no USB charging option. No LCD display.
Cheap MP3 player, but not worth the money November 13, 2008 Cindy T (Coral Springs, FL) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just got Coby MP200 from Amazon, thank god for free 2 day shipping. I opened it and put some music into it. I wanted to use it as both an MP3 player and a flash drive, it was a good idea because flash drives are very easy to lose. It's nice to have a very high capacity MP3 player for only $13. The biggest issue is that I can't use it.Even after reading the instructions THOUROUGHLY, I had a very difficult time turning the thing on, especially when I'm using the battery that came with it. It still wouldn't turn on even with my best batteries. I called technical support using the number that was on the manual, and according to that manual it opens from 8:00 am to 11:00pm. I called tech support at 8:27pm and it said if I was inquiring about an MP3 player, that I should visit their website. So I went on the internet whilst staying on the line. THere was that little phone music for about a minute, and then there's complete silence. Since no one picked up after 8-9 minutes of waiting, I hung up. I was online. Support service was pathetic, all they give you is a tutorial, which is worthless if you already have the paper version of it. There's no troubleshooting page or anything. And I also found out on their website that it closes at 5:30pm! That's 9 minutes on the phone that I will never get back. Go ahead buy it if you want. A lot of people seem to like it. But if your Coby gets defective. RETURN IT. It doesn't matter what Coby says. If technical support and customer service wasn't this bad, I would consider calling them.
