Your calls come in loud & clear with advanced echo cancellation. Setup is easy with simple phone pairing and automatic phonebook transfer. When you're not utilizing hands-free calling, the DEH-P700BT can use Bluetooth Wireless Technology to feed your appetite for entertainment. Using "wireless audio" control and streaming (AVRCP, A2DP), you can control and listen to a compatible audio player or music phone on your headunit.Hear the detail, warmth and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3, WMA and AAC files stored on USB memory device, iPod and portable digital players. USB 2.0's speed and capability allow an elevated iPod experience in the car, and nearly limitless expandability for portable media players and USB memory devices.File search and access are extra-quick. The headunit keeps song, artist, time and album information displays very clear and user-friendly, and control is intuitive through the 7-Way Rotary Commander. The system's wired USB connection provides direct digital signal transfer from the iPod for clean, clear sound. The DEH-P700BT is smartly designed to expand your system, customize your experience, provide superior sound quality and easy operation.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Bluetooth Head Unit!   December 17, 2008
Anderson Smith (AA, MI)
I did a lot of research before buying this head unit and it paid off! This head unit was everything I expected and more. I was comparing this one to the Pioneer 980BT and the 7000BT. I went for this one as a balance between features and cost.

I did a whole new system in my car including subs, 5 channel amp, and speakers with this head unit. After I installed everything and turned it on I immediately knew it was worth it. I have a V3 RAZR with ATT service and after reading the owners manual I paired my phone and seamlessly downloaded my address book to the head unit. My phone automatically connects when I turn on my car and the sound is perfect. I have the mic on my visor and I can talk in a normal conversational voice and everyone says it is crystal clear on the other end. I also have an ipod video and with the included ipod cable it works fine. I can scroll just on the head unit just as I would on the ipod itself. I have also tried a flash stick and that works well too.

My only piece of advice is potential buyers should be prepared to pop the owners cd into their computer and print it off. I would consider myself pretty technologically savvy and it took me a while to figure this head unit out. Once I did though and I got everything set how I wanted, it works great. Would recommend to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars excellent deck!!!   December 12, 2008
James Mayo (texas)
All in all this is a great deck. Bluetooth works good and I-pod function as well. Only complaint is could be easier to navigate around the menus of the deck. Also the owners manual is on cd-rom so you have to print it out yourself and its lenghtly. My 16 yr old is happy with it though!!

3 out of 5 stars Feature Packed HU   November 17, 2008

Installed the HU about 1.5 months ago. Connected them to lower end MB Quart Discus component speakers. Replaced an Alpine deck because the FM was blipping out. Installed high pass passive crossovers just for the front speakers. I didn't need them with the Alpine unit. Have been using the USB input exclusively. I don't use an ipod. Haven't used the CD player except to test when I installed the deck.

Pros:
Blue Tooth functionality and quality are great. Paired mine with a BB Curve. Comes with a mic that I placed in front of my gauges and steering wheel. Call quality is great and it beats all the other bluetooth devices I've ever used. Having the audio come through the car's speakers is great. With windows closed and driving, callers have never complained about call quality.

USB connectivity to a flash drive is great. Have 494 tunes @192kB on an 8GB flash drive with about 5GB remaining. Access to the tunes is very quick and very seemless. Amazing.

Bass Response from the deck is great.

Has included ipod USB cable

Lots of inputs: USB/iPod, mini headphone input. I only use the USB

Lots of eq curves and adjustments.

Cons:
Steep learning curve to figure it out.

Multi control button (the big round dial) is tough to use and not very intuitive when trying to access the various functions. A lot of times you don't know if you're supposed to push up, let or right or in the middle. Also some functions require you to push the middle and it's really easy to push off center and the deck will either do nothing or go somewhere unexpected.

Random Play All(shuffle) doesn't advance to the next random tune when you advance it. It goes to the next tune in the folder....very frustrating.

FM Sensitivity is not as good as former Pioneer HU's I've owned

Sound quality is not as good as the Alpine HU I replaced it with. I like very bright clear highs and this HU is not as good as the Alpine.

The built in crossover cannot separate the crossover freqs between the front and rear speakers. You cannot have just the fronts set to high pass and the rears to low/mid pass. It's front/rears outputs high pass with sub output low pass only.

When trying to view folders/artists from my flash drive, it starts with the oldest Modified folder. Can't find a way to have it start say.... alphabetically. Frustrating whey you're trying to find a specific artist/album.

Overall I'm happy with the features of the deck. Can't say I'm as happy with the execution or sound quality. Very confusing buttons and menu structure. A passenger will never be able to figure out how to use this deck.

4 out of 5 stars Great unit for the price   October 22, 2008

After my old Pioneer stereo died an early death, I wanted to replace it with another Pioneer unit because I had several add-ons already. This unit is far far from perfect, but for the money it is very much worth it. I was considering the DEH-P980BT but I was worried about the glare with my convertible top was down and also the economy tanked. Since I only buy things I have the money for now, this was easier on my wallet. I am happy with this unit, but I do have many gripes.

PROS:
* Works with all the old Pioneer add-ons. So if you have an older XM or Sirius tuner, you don't need to upgrade. All the rear adapters are the same too.
* The sun glare is less of a problem and you can see the display in all but the brightest situations.
* Bluetooth works really well. Pairing is a pain, but that is a Bluetooth issue and not a stereo issue. The audio quality is really really good. The included microphone picks up everything well without an echo or feedback. The Bluetooth system makes this thing worth it. When you make or get a call, it pauses your CD or iPod, when you are done with the call, it returns you to what you were listening too. The caller-id or phone book entry is displayed.
* iPod navigation is much improved over older units. Whereas when you were browsing different playlists, artists, albums, and so on the unit immediately went to your selection, now you have to press the button to choose your selection. The removes the delay you had from browsing. The information also now scrolls, unlike older units where you were limited to 8 characters.
* Audio quality is far better than previous models.
* Antenna reception is better too.
* I like the fact that Premier is displayed bigger than Pioneer. Makes it seem like a generic brand. Who wants to steal a Premier brand stereo?

CONS:
* First, the one button system is pure stupidity. Only a brain-dead engineer would think that was a good idea. It is far too easy to accidentally push left or right when pushing in.
* Second, buttons for presets are gone. Why? I am now forced to use the included remote to get to the station I want quickly. You can use the up and down big button, but it can be confusing.
* Dimmer, what dimmer? It has one brightness setting. Which is REALLY bright.
* The included iPod USB cable does not work with 2G iPod's like mine. Fortunately I had an older iPod adapter from other stereo or I would be royally angry.
* Navigation through the function settings is a pain.
* These are minor complaints: When the constant scroll setting is on, the text will scroll even if it does not need to. You have to manually download the phone book to the phone. The manual is on a CD, like paper is expensive.

Summery:
I would buy this unit again. Despite its flaws, the advantages far outweigh it. I would recommend you have a little know-how before installing, since you want your Bluetooth microphone mounted properly. Considering that the DEH-7000BT is only slightly more or cheaper, you should get the Premier DEH-700BT because it has a longer warranty and better amp outputs.
