My children recieved Shakers for their birthdays. The Shaker is great because the kids can share them with earphones, I have control of what they are listening to, and they can listen to music without headsets. The Shaker is wonderful for roadtrips.

Bought this for my 5 year old twin boys. They liked it so much we had to get a second one so they wouldn't have to share. Easy to use. Shaker function silly- easier to twist it. Speaker quality good for such a small player. The speaker is why you should buy it. Little kids don't like headphones so that's why this player is so great. My only complaint is that there is no display screen to show you what song you are listening to or enable you to search for the song you want.

I purchased 2 of these for my kids for Christmas and they love them They both are 7 and 8 years old and they both enjoy music. They work great and can store around 500 mp3's. These players took number 1 over all the other gifts they got on that morning. I only recommend 2 things you should consider.
1) Get the GUMMIE ear buds for little kids with little ears.
2) Also invest in rechargeable batteries too.
 SD memory card lost all data after 3 days of operation December 29, 2008

Unit worked OK until the first battery finally got low.
Upon battery replacement, I noticed an error signal (drum up, then drum down )occured every time I tried to power it up--the Sansa 1G SD
card had lost all data. Had to reformat and reload my songs back on the
card--then it worked OK.
The bottom cover can easily fall off if not installed
just right--poor design there.
Loved the little speaker on top though--that's pretty cool.
