Amazon.com Product Description
Get ready for the future of television with the 32-inch, HD-ready Samsung TXN3271HF TV. It features 1080i and 480p display formats, 4:3 aspect ratio (with 16:9 enhanced mode), Samsung's DynaFlat anti-distortion, anti-glare flat picture tube, and a full complement of Samsung's advanced digital video features, including three-line digital comb filter, velocity scan modulation, and 3:2 pulldown cinema conversion.

The TXN3271HF offers Samsung's Digital Pro Picture three-stage video processing system that produces a high-performance picture from both analog and digital sources. The Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) improves analog to digital signal processing, the Pro Chip Plus converts all analog signals to the better flicker-free progressive scan, and the three-line digital comb filter analyzes multiple lines of picture information to minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theaterlike experience at home. This set also features an Invar shadow mask (an alloy material used to attain better focus and brightness consistency), color temperature controls, and four video presets (standard, dynamic, movie, custom) that optimize the picture for brightness, sharpness, color, and tint.

It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner that receives MTS and SAP stereo broadcasts. You'll need a separate HDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts. Its built-in speakers have 15 watts of power apiece and it features a headphone jack on the side of the set. Two component-video inputs allow you to connect an optional HDTV receiver or a source with component-video outputs. It also has 4 composite A/V inputs (3 rear, 1 side), 1 A/V output, 1 S-video input (side), and 2 RF inputs (rear).

Tech Talk
Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Standard television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television will have either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, which is widescreen and appears rectangular, looking more like a movie screen and filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

Scanning method: Frames of video are made up of many lines of video that are scanned onto a television screen so closely they appear to be a solid picture. The scanning method can be either interlaced or progressive. Interlaced scanning (also used in today's analog TV), indicated by an "i" in the video format, fills in the odd number lines (1,3,5,7...) and then fills in the even number lines (2,4,6,8...) until the frame is complete. Progressive scanning, "p," fills in each line consecutively until the frame is complete, like a computer display.

What's in the Box
TXN3271HF 32-inch TV, remote control, 2 AA batteries, A/V cable, and printed operating instructions.

5 out of 5 stars The best tv ever!   May 3, 2007
LEX (St Louis, Mo)
This is the coolest design on tv for its size. I have had mine for the past six months or so. I cannot belive that it has held its value even though the age of the model. The image quality is impresive. I share the connection of my HD DVR though coaxial and the image looks in High Def!

I thought I paid too much for it, 900 but I am so glad I did.
The buttons are hidden, they light up on contact. It has two HD connections and others for games or vcr. The remote is universal so it can be programmed for other devices.

I recommend this TV, you may even find it at a better deal now.

Samsung is hands down the best television manufacturer!

4 out of 5 stars curious   July 20, 2006
Chris Sullivan (New York, NY United States)
HD signal comes in sharp, black screen renders as such (not charcoal grey), and colors are vibrant.

Standard cable does look fuzzy - no up-sampling or any form of compensation.

For people that don't care for extra bells and whistles, and are not interested as much in the picture, but the story, this is a worthy investment.

Functions well as a monitor.

2 out of 5 stars This Model outdated in less than a year.   December 1, 2004

The Samsung Monitor has performed well over the past year. To be fair I haven't had any problems. However, like most electronic equipment it is now outdated. For an extra 50 bucks you can buy one with a built in HDTV tuner. The store where I bought this model doesn't even carry it anymore, and it hasn't been a year. Also, when you start pricing HDTV tuners, OTA or other be prepared to pay $300-$400. This Model is now outdated.

3 out of 5 stars Very good   September 28, 2004

I think other reviewers must work for Samsung's competition. Recently received mine and the picture quality is excellant. Yes, there are some extras missing I would like to have like PIP but after all, look at the price. Once again those other reviewers listed I suspect may be working in concert

1 out of 5 stars Poorly designed, Poorly serviced   March 20, 2004

We bought a Samsung TXN3271HF 32" HDTV last August. We noticed about a month later that when watching TV in the dark the picture is "striped". That is parts of the screen are one darkness and part are another. We have had a very difficult time getting service help from Samsung. Calls to their service center go unreturned. When we finally got a referral to a competent local service company, the head tech told us that Samsung admits the design of the TV is flawed and that this problem is COMMON AND CANNOT BE FIXED! Do not buy this television! I have called Samsung service more than 12 times and never recieved a satisfactory answer to this problem.
