Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Offering both a "standard" operating mode (1100 ANSI Lumens) and low-power "economy" mode (940 ANSI Lumens) enables the Sharp Notevision XR-1S to meet the requirements of most any room or application. The low-power mode provides a lamp life of up to 4,000 hours with low fan noise and low power consumption, and ensures the XR-1S is both exceptionally quiet and economical to operate.

4 out of 5 stars Bright Powerful Projection in a Small Package   June 18, 2008
Stephen Goudinoff (Tucson, AZ)
Anyone looking for a small portable projector should look no further.
It's hard to believe that such a small package could deliver such powerful visuals.

My band StillSuit needed something small and light weight to take on tour, and this was the best option hands down. We use video during our performances and needed something that could fit into a variety of tight spaces depending where we were playing.

It is somewhat limited in connections (no DVI, no RCA audio connectors, no Component video) but has just about eveything you need. Although a digital connection (DVI) was missed the most.

I don't honestly think this unit is capable of true HD (in 720p at least) VIA the VGA/RGB connection. I have an HDTV, and while this projector's picture looks good, it can't touch the clarity of an LCD. But that's not the point.

A tight little DLP unit like this would be a good choice for anyone who needs projection on the go (presenters, DJ's, etc.) or has limited space to make a home theater.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for Price! great picture   March 6, 2006

I'm new to the world of projectors, but I love this and got it about 10 months ago(april 2005). It has 2 inputs, VGA, S-Video, and Standard RCA Video-in. Mine came with a 106" draper screen and an HD compoent to VGA connector. Basically I have my Cable Box in the HD/VGA input, DVD in the Svideo, and VCR in the RCA.

The HD is incredible, the DVD is amazing, and the VCR is excellent! The only downside in my eyes is the lack of DVI input, but is not really needed.

It is also very quiet on wisper mode, and the picture difference only very slight. The menus are fantasticly easy to use also, and auto-keystone works well. There are many options to tinker with. I have it connected to a Nakamichi soundSpace 8, which acts great as hometheater sound system. People are amazed the quality of the picture and sound when they see it, and have to force people to get out of my house.

A fairly Dark enviroment is recommended though. I use mine in the basement, which is where my rec room is, so it's perfect. I can open the shades and watch, but the color is water downed.

I paid $1100 for the package in April, and use it 4 hours a day, and still have over 50% of the bulb left.

Go for it! 106" 16X9 HD is jaw dropping!
