Product Description
The elegant Sharp AQUOS D4U Series enhances the decor of any family room, living room or den. With a true 16:9 aspect ratio, HDTV resolution of 1366 x 768, Sharp's Emmy award-winning LCD technology and breathtaking color purity, it is a next-generation TV to carry you into the high definition future. The D4U Series utilizes Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel, which provides high brightness - 450 cd/m2 , 800:1 Contrast Ratio, and wide viewing angles (170-degrees x 170-degrees). The D4U Series features a sleek glossy black cabinet and the included table stand easily removes for wall mounting applications. Other features that distinguish the D4U Series: HDMI and 2 HD component video inputs as well as an enhanced version of Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit, which enables fast response time of less than 12ms. 1 out of 5 stars Poor quality, poor service   September 29, 2006

I bought a sharp lcd tv from j& r in new york last Jan, after a year and half, when powering on the tv, sometimes works, sometimes not. after unplug in, wait for a while and plug back, worked for a couple months. Send it to service center to checkup, was told that the lcd control board needs to be replaced. when request to get back the replaced lcd control board, was told that sharp does not give back the replaced board, it has to be shipped back, otherwise, you have to pay additional fee to get back the replaced board.. it's rather strange to hear such a lousy policy from any vendor..

But, if you do want to get a sharp, better get a long long warranty..

I have owned this television for about 7 months now and I am extremely happy with it. The picture is absolutely amazing...although beware, once you get used to watching HD shows, it is hard to go back. I would definitely recommend this television.

I bought a Sharp Aquos 37" and experienced a problem in a storm that caused the system to freeze. No big deal I thought because most everything has a reboot sequence.

Well, I was right but Sharp charged me $175 to do this because someone had to come to the house to do the magic button sequence.

I thought at least spending this much on a Tv that even though it was out of the 12 month warranty since this is a software/firmware issue Sharp would waive the fee.

Boy was I wrong.

Beware of Sharp Warranty.

I have been doing research to get a TV for my bedroom, Sharp Aquos has great review, very happy to get it deliver and not have to pay sells tax from AMAZON.COM, Delivery people are not good they didn't call me but send me a letter. I found a great Technician to hook it up on my wall. Amazing picture quality and sound for a large size bedroom. not hooked up HDTV yet but it is so good on Analoqu TV.
I am very happy with purchase...........

3 out of 5 stars great when it works   February 6, 2006

I ordered this TV on January 3rd from amazon.com. I did not recieve the set until January 17th because the shipping company (EGL), "could not find my phone number on whitepages.com" and made no other attempt to contact me. I contacted them and scheduled an appointment for delivery. When my set was delivered the technician (delivery man) did not unwrap or set up the device because it was not his job. I paid the delivery money for this lack of service. I give amazon/EGL a 1 star for delivery.
I have had the LC-37D4U for just over 2 weeks and I have had many power related problems beginning the day I recieved this product. The unit turns itself on if left plugged in. When it turns "on" it is frozen and unresponsive to the buttons on the unit itself and the remote. It must be unplugged to work properly again. I contacted sharp about servicing the unit and they put me on a waiting list for 3 weeks. I have not contacted amazon about returning this product, but I will do so after writing this review.
I gave the unit 3 stars because the image produced by the set is amazing and the sound is very good for built in speakers. I will be very happy with the product if the power problem is fixed on Feb 22nd (my service appointment).
