Save space and enjoy a wonderfully vivid, high definition television programming with the HD-ready, 23-inch Zenith Z23LZ6R widescreen LCD TV. It's a great choice for watching TV programming in smaller rooms or multitasking in your home office--the DVI connection enables you to hook up compatible PCs, providing you an extra-large computer desktop. This set features a built-in, standard-broadcast NTSC tuner and it will display high-definition programming via an optional receiver or with a cable/satellite set-top box. Faroudja's DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) video processing eliminates jagged edges that appear with progressive-scan displays for a smoother picture, while the Super IPS (In Plane Switching) technology helps prevent distortion to brightness, contrast, and color when viewing the TV at a wide angle. The 2D digital comb filter helps reduce video noise by comparing each horizontal scanning line with the lines above and below and with the corresponding line on the previous subsequent video frames.
The Z23LZ6R features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the native screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and high-definition content. It offers compatibility with all HDTV formats (480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i) and it has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. It also features a wide 178-degree viewing angle, 16ms (millisecond) response time, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and 550:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) Other features include three color temperature modes, three aspect ratio adjustments, favorite channel selection, custom channel and input labeling, tri-lingual onscreen menus (English, French, Spanish), and V-Chip parental controls.
This set has two built-in 7-watt speakers (for 14 watts of total power) and a volume leveler feature (which prevents loud commercials from ratcheting up the volume). It offers the following video and audio connections:
- Composite A/V: 2 (1 side)
- S-Video: 1 (side)
- Component Video: 1
- DVI-HDCP: 1
- RS-232c: 1 (software upgrade interface)
- RF: 1
- PC audio: 1 (1/8-inch mini-jack)
Tech Talk
DVI (Digital Video Interface) provides an uncompressed transfer of high definition video from a digital video source to a digital display device. This universal standard for connecting flat-panel monitors is also used for data projectors, plasma displays, and digital TVs.
HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a system for protecting DVD content outputted via DVI/HDMI from being copied. It provides a secure digital link between a video source (PC, DVD. etc) and a display device (TV, projector, etc). Content is encrypted at the source device to prevent unauthorized copies from being made.
