Amazon.com Product Description The Akai LCT2662 TV vaults viewers squarely into the 21st century. The 26-inch LCD model functions as a traditional TV, but is also capable of receiving next-generation high-definition content when paired with an HD tuner (sold separately). The resulting 1280 x 720 resolution is bright, sharp, and responsive, making everything from sporting events to reality shows come alive with vivid clarity and 3D-like realism. The TV's widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio is also great for watching 480p progressive scan DVDs or playing the latest video games, making it a true home theater centerpiece. The rapid 16 millisecond response time is particularly suited to fast-motion games, while the selectable 480p, 720p, and 1080i formats gives users multiple resolution options depending on the source. The TV also includes a 3D digital comb filter that precisely separates the color signals to further clarify video signals, along with 3:2 pulldown processing, which corrects the frame rate errors that commonly occur when film is transferred to DVD. The combined functions create more accurate colors, sharper motions, and more defined edges--a must for demanding TV and movie enthusiasts. Further video enhancements include a 600:1 contrast ratio and a 550 cd/m2 brightness rating. The picture-in-picture function, meanwhile, lets viewers watch programs from two sources simultaneously. The TV offers such additional features as a trilingual onscreen menu, a built-in NTSC tuner, V-chip parental control, a sleep timer, and closed captioning. Fortunately for home theater buffs, the LCT2662 doesn't shortchange the audio, as it comes with a pair of built-in 10-watt stereo speakers, BTSC multichannel sound, and secondary audio programming (SAP) when available. Connectivity occurs through the component, S-video, composite video, and VGA inputs. The component input is designed to connect HD receivers and DVD players for unparalleled video quality (the S-video input also supports high-quality playback), while the two composite inputs are ideal for camcorders and video game consoles. The unit also connects to a PC through its VGA input, letting users check their e-mail, surf the Web, and watch online movies through the TV. The LCT2662, which includes a unified home theater remote control and a built-in pedestal stand, measures 34 by 21.6 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor. What's in the Box LCD TV, pedestal stand, remote control, user's manual.

This TV is just plain BAD December 29, 2007 R. Maes (Aruba) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have this TV now for a bit over 18 months. My TV needs a manual now to get it turned on. First press the on button (nothing will happen). Wait 5 second and manually turn of the TV at the bottom of the unit. Wait another 5 secs and turn it on. Press the ON button again. Repeat until you get a picture (usually around 3 - 4 times). When I have a picture is is an extremely bad quility. Repeat all steps until Picture is clear (about 10 times). This TV I did buy in Aruba by Price Smart. Some of my friend also did buy this TV at the same time and also they have the same problems like I have. After investigating online it seems that the power supply is the problem, and that this is very very normal for this TV. Akai will not help as it is no longer in warranty, and getting it fixed is about $350. DO NOT BUY THIS TV.
Akai LCD 26" Bad buy November 22, 2007 Katie (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased this tv, after six months it would power off when it got warm, so we exchanged for a newer model and now the new one after a year will not turn on. For a while if we pushed the power button over a 100 times it would finally come on a couple of nights ago it took an hour and a half before it would come on and tonight it does not come on at all.

After owning this for 1 year now....I'm having major problems with it powering on after it's off for any length of time. I use it primarily as a monitor.
