Product Description
The Mitsubishi's 732 series 1080p DLP HDTVs feature Mitsubishi's 6-Color Light Engine and unique TurboLight150 lamp system. These 57 and 65 732 Series HDTVs produce big, bright and bold pictures with unsurpassed detail and vibrant colors. At their heart is a Mitsubishi exclusive 6-Color Light Engine, the first to offer 6-color processing. This proprietary Mitsubishi 1080p DLP digital light engine features PerfectColor and PerfecTint to adjust the intensity and tint of each color independently and separately for each input. And Dark Detailer provides deep blacks and rich dark scene detail. The 732 Series gives the perfect picture, whether watching broadcast, cable or satellite TV, or for DVD and HD video games. The stunning 732 Series picture is further enhanced by all-new digital signal processing system. Plush1080p allows for precise deinterlacing and upconversion to 1080p. 4D Video Noise Reduction creates smooth yet detailed images. And Tru1080p processes the highest resolution HDTV signals in their native format. The 732 models are Digital Cable Ready HDTVs with CableCARD slots, so digital cable channels can be viewed without a cable box. Both televisions have two HDMI inputs, three component video inputs and a DVI-I input for a digital PC connection. ClearThought Easy Connect recognizes inputs as they are plugged in to simplify set up and day-to-day operation. And NetCommand allows for simple icon based control of most any brand of Cable or Satellite set top box, AV Receiver or other home theater component.

5 out of 5 stars Very Nice TV   July 11, 2007

I purchased this TV about a month ago and it is awesome. Works great with my HTPC on the DVI input. All the modern gaming systems (including the Wii) look crisp. If you are looking for HD on a big screen for cheap this great. No rainbow effect they have advanced beyond that. Very light and easy to move. Also very good color. Standard def will look only ok as with most large HDTVs but with upscaling DVD players/HTPCs it look pretty solid.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Choice for 1080p HDTV   February 25, 2007

I went through the comparisons, forums and reviews for days. I was really leaning towards the Samsung LED Version of the DLP. I ended up going with this model for certain reasons. First was the split screen. I wanted to be able to split ANY video signal. The Samsung models, Toshiba and others would only do an analog/digital PIP or split screen. The Mitsubishi WD-65732 was the only MFG model that allows splits for ANY incoming signal expect for a true 1080p source or HDMI-HDMI. I can do Component-HDMI or Component-Component, just about any mix. You can also resize the split screens in three different configurations.

I also had to weigh the importance of my XBOX 360 system. I do have the HD-DVD add-on and I know the Samsung models allow for 1080p through VGA for movies or games. Now the Mitsubishi does have a DVI connection and it will do 1080p from that connection, but my research on the subject of taking a VGA cable and adding a DVI adapter washes out the image to the point that component video looks better. I have not tried the VGA/DVI connection yet, but knew this might be a sacrifice going in.

The image is awesome, as everyone who gets a DLP or new HDTV set tells you. Some research on the AVS forums found some color settings for the PerfectColor and PerfectTint options (Only available on the 732 models, not the 731). After adjusting, the picture is just about perfect in my eyes. All HD signals are not the same. Programming on Discovery HD is different than the movie you watch on HBO HD and so on. HD-DVD and XBOX 360 games look great. Three different picture levels (Natural, Bright and Brilliant) allow you to adjust for room lighting if needed. Only Brightness, Contrast and Color temperature change (and are adjustable) when you change the picture mode. Color settings stay the same, which is nice after zeroing in on what you prefer.

I also have Cox Cable. I found out that if you are using a HD cable box, setting the resolution for 480i and/or 480p can really make standard definition (SD) channels look terrible. I was thinking this TV really sucks at SD programming. I set the resolutions for the HD cable box at 720p and 1080i ONLY. This would force any SD channel to 1080i from the cable box. The SD programs on the HDTV, which has a 1080p upconversion, looks pretty good now. Big improvement from the 480i/480p settings on the cable box. The HD programming is excellent with the upconversion as well.!

The few extra features that come with the 732 model over the 731 model are worth the difference in price! Finding a stand in stock was tough, but we found one. 65732 unit is only 99 lbs., easy for 2 people to move. Really easy to recommend.
