Product Description Toshiba has enhanced overall image quality yet again, creating a line of REGZA LCD TV with picture quality that is truly second to none. In addition to its continued commitment to image quality, Toshiba has now focused on creating cabinetry that will also set REGZA apart. All REGZA models feature beautiful high-gloss black cabinetry with Toshiba's slim SoundStrip speaker technology. SoundStrip enables more compact cabinetry, without sacrificing the big home theater sound, creating a more modern high-class look.

Great TV, possible screen problem November 18, 2008 B. Nardi This TV (REGZA 52HL167) produces an amazingly nice picture. You've seen the details in others' reviews. I agree with them whole heartedly. The only picture I saw that may be slightly better is the SONY Bravia series, but the cost is significantly higher. br / br /A point that could use a bit more emphasis: the matte screen finish on this TV all but eliminates reflections. This is especially important if the TV sits in a room with lots of windows, as mine does. No other LCD TV I've seen (and I've seen many) competes with the REGZA on this score. br / br /Something to beware of, though it's probably a universal problem not unique to Toshiba: the screen can develop an ever expanding blotch of dead pixels. Six months after delivery I saw a row of about 5 pixels which had died near the center of the screen. Daily this started expanding, and after about a month there was a 12 inch by 1/2 inch gash of dead pixels, with a 1-1/2 inch circle of dead pixels in the middle. (This is similar to the head-on airplane pattern described in another review.) The Toshiba warranty covered this completely. The screen was replaced, but it did take several months of waiting. Never mind, I was grateful to have it fixed at no cost. The repair person said he had seen this before and it was caused by a de-lamination of the active LCD elements from the screen. Go figure. br / br /Bottom line is I would definitely buy this TV again. Another I would consider, with a great picture and good price: the Philips 52PFL7422D. br /
failed after 3 months - toshiba took another 3 months to replace October 22, 2008 J. Kingsbury (AL United States) honestly the tv itself is fine - but 3 1/2 months to get a panel replaced on a 3 1/2month old tv is a little ridiculous... our local service center (non toshiba) is mostly to blame - with proper nagging thay are finally replacing the tv with a new one (glory glory) but i fear another failure. customer service is an issue. love it while it works though.
Love this TV!! October 17, 2008 J. P. Engle (Renton, WA) I've owned this TV for about a year now and wanted to share my experience. I have or had it hooked up to the following components: br / br /HDTV Antenna(DB4)(Coax) br /Wii(Component) br /Xbox 360 (via component) br /Yamaha 5.1 receiver(HDMI) br /Roku Netflix Box(HDMI) br /Comcast HD DVR Box(HDMI) br /Toshiba HD-DVD Player(HDMI) br /Dell Home Theater PC(VGA) br / br /It has worked flawlessly with all these components except the Netflix ROKU box, which there seems to be conflict with the HDCP technology and causes an intermittent green screen to appear. Its really more of an annoyance than anything and I've not spent much time troubleshooting it. br / br /When I bought this TV, I was comparing it to the well rated Samsung and Sony models but ended going with this model after comparing them side by side at my local A/V store. The biggest selling points for me were the viewing angle and color vibrancy. A year later, I'm not disappointed with my decision and am still very happy with the vibrancy and viewing angle. br / br /Several months ago, I dropped my cable service and decided to get my content via a HD antenna, Roku Box and my Home Theater PC(Hulu, YouTube, Amazon, ect). I wasn't sure what to expect when I made this change, but have been happy with the selection and especially the video quality through the HD antenna. The built in tuner is very easy to use and once setup it's a no-brainer. I don't know if I'll ever switch back to cable. br / br /Overall, I'm very happy with this TV
Very nice TV September 2, 2008 Art (Missouri) Haven't got my speakers and amp hooked up yet, so hooked a subwoofer right to the TV. The sound's not great, but it's pretty good. That's fine; I'm not going to use the built-in speakers, so I appreciate the fact they're in the back and there isn't a lot of the front devoted to speaker grills. Just the thin, glossy black frame around the picture, very clean. br / br /Fabulous picture, sharp blacks, clean whites with no bad balance, no problems whatsoever. Rave reviews from everybody who's seen it, especially when NBC was showing off all their new HDTV gear at the Olympics. This thing just looks great, including with the laptop plugged into it. br / br /Great screen for signage, too, at your next convention.
Nice T.V. for the price August 29, 2008 M. E. Riley (Ariz) I got this T.V. for exactly $1999.00 OTD and so far I am very happy with the it. It took a little fine tuning for the picture and sound so you might have to do that right out of the box, but after that... the picture is amazing when watching HD and/or Blue ray. The sound is also surprisingly good. I love the black finish, sets a theatre tone in my opnion when watching movies. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.
