Brightness fixed...Model series problem...4 stars so far..we'll see November 10, 2008 S. Johnston (St Louis) This was supposed to have a 150 degree angle of view vertically and we noticed when we sit down on the floor (games), the picture seemed darker, but was ok viewing from the sides. Westinghouse said there unit did not darken at different vertical angles and are shipping me another one from the other batch series (A or B I forget), same model# though.
Not as Bad as Most LCDs I've Seen October 20, 2008 John Clogger My doctor's office has a Westinghouse LCD and an LG LCD connected to the same source. Suprisingly, the Westinghouse unit actually doesn't look too bad. It looks much better than the LG. No, the Westinghouse LCD doesn't look as good as a picture tube TV, thus the 2 star rating. The picture doesn't have as much depth and detail as a CRT. But the Westinghouse LCD is generally watchable and much better than most LCDs I've seen. (I would give most LCDs I've tried 0 stars if I could, and I'd give the LG 1 star.) This really surprises me, as Westinghouse is not exactly a name I'd associate with high quality electronics. But I'd be VERY cautious. With an almost-generic brand like this quality may or may not be consistent betwen units/models. br / br /If you have a picture tube TV that works good, keep it. Don't buy an LCD, as doing so is a downgrade. But the picture on the Westinghouse unit gives some hope that maybe LCDs won't look as horrible in the future as they generally do now.

Refurb - Sound fixed, Picture quality excellent. July 29, 2008 Duke Mantee (New York, NY USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was initially scared off by a lot of the negative reviews here. However, one or two people said the sound problems were fixed by the new firmware so I took a chance when I saw a refurbished version of this TV on another site for a ridiculously low price. I'm thrilled that I bought it. When the TV first arrived I entered the serial number on the Westinghouse site and got the firmware fix. The TV did nothing when I tried to install the fix via USB drive. I called the Westinghouse customer service number. It picked up in under two minutes and a knowledgeable American customer service rep told me that it had it meant that my model had probably already been upgraded. When I began using the TV I was blown away. I already have a 46 inch Samsung and I have to say that the picture quality on this set is equal or maybe better than the much more expensive Samsung. I have no audio problems. No lip-sync problem. No hum. I have been watching the TV for 3 days and I think it is just great. The only minor problem I can find is that the volume is a bit low for DVD's when I hook the player up with standard RCA cables. I plan on trying an HDMI cable and I wonder if that will help. All in all, do yourself a favor and buy this set. You won't regret it.
Could be a little brighter May 25, 2008 V. Lasmarias (Vancouver, BC) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Westinghouse SK-26H520S 26-inch LCD HDTV br /This is my 3rd HDTV and I've owned a Samsung and a Vizio branded LCD TV. br /I decided to downsize since 32" was a little too big for the bedroom and this fit the bill. br /I had to do some color calibrations since the out of the box picture wasn't all that great. I also had to re-do the calibrations since the firmware update is a MUST to clear off the SD audio/video lag. Not sure what audio issues some users are experiencing because I hear no buzzing with mine. No dead pixels either but usually that's a function of the (un)luck of the draw. br /TV could've used more silver highlights around the casing or make the bezel shinier to make it look more appealing. The picture does speak for itself however. Pretty great value for the price that's for sure. Big pros are lots of connectivity options and a pretty good TV tuner. br /My main complaint is that it's not as bright as the other 2 TV's that I've owned.
