Amazon.com Product Description
The WD-73734 is a mammoth 73-inch DLP (Digital Light Processing) rear-projection HDTV from Mitsubishi that incorporates the latest technologies for an accurate picture that is perfect for a large home theater system.

Giant Performance, Small Footprint
Because the latest Texas Instruments 1080P DLP chip is inside, this television yields the full 1920 x 1080 high-definition resolution with progressive scan, the highest quality HDTV standard today. With a television this size, offering more than two million pixels is important to prevent visible pixelation.

The WD-73734 supports the x.v.Color standard for 80 percent more color than standard HDTV. View larger. View back panel.

Despite the large screen size, the WD-73734 weighs less than 100 pounds and is only 17.5 inches deep. View larger.
The television can display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it passes through with no down conversion: The 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture.

The screen is huge and the technologies are many, but the unit itself weighs less than 100 pounds and is only 17.5 inches deep, which means it will fit into many decors.

More Color
The WD-73734 incorporates a slew of new technologies that combine to give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80 percent more color than standard HDTV.

The WD-73734 also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth, versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast.

Coupled with this technology is Mitsubishi's exclusive 6-Color Light Engine, which uses six primary colors instead of the traditional three to create more colors. Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction, PerfectColor, and PerfectTint yield a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a brighter, smoother, and more realistic picture than ever before.

Connections Galore
You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the WD-73734. It has a total of four HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, three in the rear and one in the front, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player, HD DVD player, and still have two inputs left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one front), a front USB connection so you can display up to five-megapixel photographs, and two A/V inputs with S-Video. It has a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. Mitsubishi's NetCommand enables the included partially illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system.

The WD-73734 is backed by a limited 1-year warranty.

What's in the Box
WD-73734 73-inch DLP HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, owner's guide, quick reference guide, quick connect guide, product registration card, and two-ended IR emitter.

5 out of 5 stars Don't have to say much.............   November 24, 2008

Hands down if your considering getting this tv, stop looking any further. There's a reason this tv has had RAVE reviews against all others. I spent 3 months researching tv's to buy and my journey started and ended here. Mitsubishi in my opinion is the best company for tv's out there. The picture is INSANE everyone I know with plasmas & LCDs that are in aww over my tv. So stop searching and pull the trigger, you won't regret it!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars What a TV.. What a Picture.. Very Realistic compared to led or plasma   October 5, 2008

I have had it for two months now. The picture in Hi-Def is so good it is like sitting in a movie theater with the clarity of film. I really believe this DLP has a more realistic looking picture than LED or Plasma screens. The LED's and/or Plasma screens may, and I do say "may" be a bit crisper or clearer, but I feel they have an animated look like the flat screen computer monitors seem to have. My friend bought a 42" Samsung plasma TV just recently. He came over and saw my 73" screen the other day and said, WOW that looks so clear and the colors are richer and the picture is seemingly as clear and crisp as his 42" which is hard to believe because the WD734 is 21" larger and is a projector TV. He said, it seems to look more real as well. I said I agree I agree. I could tell he started doing a bit of second guessing as to whether he had made the right purchase. I.e. could have had a BIGGER picture, still be SUPER CLEAR, and have those Deep Rich Colors and at half the price of a comparable sized LED or PLASMA. Keep in mind the last time I looked without spending $10,000 you can't even get a 73" Hi-Def flat screen. So you can only compare the WD73734 to the newly emerging 65" flat screens at about 4k and up. Here is another example of how great of a picture my WD73734 has. I have a 35" Sony Wega 1080 Tube TV which are known industry wide as maybe the very best in tube pictures. It is now a few years old. I used to look at that picture and compare it to my Hitachi Ultravision non-digital projection TV which for its day was considered by Television Service Experts to be hands down the finest picture out there for the projection TV's. The model is a 61SBX59b. The Sony Tube Picture was definitely a better picture by a noticeable margin; after all it is a real CRT tube. But now when I look at the Sony after watching my Mitsubishi WD73734, I look at the Sony and think to myself; what is wrong with the Sony Picture? It appears dull and a bit fuzzy. It is then that I realize, nothing is wrong, but it looks like there is compared to the WD73734... The WD73734 is so clear and the colors are so deep and real... The WD73734 is really AMAZING... When you shop around do realize the WD73734 is not being made anymore and is being phased out and replaced by the WD73735 model. So the 734 can be had for an average of about $500 bucks cheaper. The 735 Does have the 3D ready port, which from my study seems to be the only PLUS to the TV: Do you have 3D viewing glasses? Probably not.. also the 735 does not have: Sharpedge/Deep Field Imager/Perfect Tint/Dynamic Detailer/Net Command/ and is missing one Rear AV input, missing a front HDMI input. So besides 3D, It is not necessarily a better TV though. 3D technology is pretty new so I will be waiting a while before I base a TV purchase on that. So to give up all the other (stuff that matters) for a thing 99% of us won't use in my opinion nothing more than being taken in by a well planned sales tactic. They have actually removed a few things and kept the price point high and make a few more bucks off of it while filling the niche of the WD73734. I am no expert, so it may be that some of the systems I quote as missing may be fixed or upgraded by other systems on the 735. But in my research and discussion with quite a few sources, it seems to be the case, the WD73734 is more of a viewing machine, and the 735 has a gadget(3d) to entice people to think it has got to be better. So they make more bucks by removing great video processing systems and add a frill. Do your homework of course, but I wanted to share what I found with you. What a television this baby is..I love it. This TV has some FANTASTIC technology in my opinion. The DLP with the 6 color light system instead of 3 like many other brands of DLP's is where much of this Televisions ` picture beauty comes from I imagine. Believe me, once you crank up this baby and turn on a real Hi-def feed, you will sit back and enjoy.. Even the regular Def channels look better than my Sony Tube. That is saying a lot. I can't say anything about longevity and lamp problems. As much as I love the picture and the TV if I have to replace a lamp every couple years or so. So what. Dollars well spent. And did I say an amazing picture at that? Oh yeah, I did...

Great product. We have had it for about 9 months and the picture and quality of the tv is great. We get more compliments from friends on the clarity of the picture and ease of using the product. The entire package including the Samsung DVD and base for the tv are highly recommended. Delivery was fast and easy.

5 out of 5 stars Love this TV!   July 11, 2008

I've had this TV for over a year and it's wonderful. I've never had a problem with fan noise as others have mentioned or bulbs. The picture quality is phenominal. Blu-Ray and HD DVD's are breathtaking. I have DirecTV HD package so it does make a huge difference. I love this TV and it's a steal for the price. My brother and son have the same TV and both feel the same. I highly recommend this TV to anyone. Everyone who visits is amazed at the picture quality. The ESPN and Baseball/Sports HD quality is unreal.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome TV !!!   April 20, 2008

I purchased the Mitsubishi WD-73734 about a month ago & I love it! I had owned a Mitsubishi 55" HD Television for several years -It still works great-in fact I have never had any repair service done to it.However, because it is an early CRT type model - it didn't have the HDMI connections which are a must if you want to watch Full 1080p High Definition.Out of the box-the WD-73734 needs some adjustments (as any TV would) to the menu settings - especially the Contrast & Brightness need to be tuned down a bit - not only will this give you a GREAT PICTURE,it will help prolong the life of the DLP Lamp. Some reviewers mentioned fan noise - I haven't noticed any at all.We sit about 9ft. from the television, however you could sit closer.I would highly recommend to purchase the matching 73B TV stand because the pedestal of the WD-73734 hides away neatly in the top of the stand for a Awesome home theatre setup. As other reviewers have said - the sound from the speakers of the WD-73734 aren't very good -but I'm sure most people will have a 5.1 or better reciever hooked up.This was my first LARGE purchase from Amazon, and I have to admit that delivery of everything went very smooth & I would do it again
