This LG 32" LCD has been a Complete Disaster August 7, 2008 T. Martak (Baltimore, MD, USA) This set was not purchased through Amazon.com, we received this TV as a gift in December 2007. After hooking it up it worked for just over a month. Then the video and sound would drop out, a negative image would appear on the left half of the screen, and the set would not respond to the remote. Had to be manually unplugged. This set is under a 2 year warranty. It's now early August of 2008 and the warranty service center has "repaired" the set 6 times. The last time it worked for a whole month, but the other day it happened all over again. Only this time the screen just goes black, no video or sound and again it must be manually unplugged. The last time it had been serviced (by replacing a PC board on the main board) we were told if the problem reoccured the set would be replaced by LG. This will be the 7th service call on this TV and we are expecting them to place an order for replacement. The only bright side to all of this is that it was a gift under warranty. We'll certainly never, ever purchase or recommend an LG product. br / br /Update 9/18/2008: The PC board which needs to be replaced has been on backorder from the factory for 4 weeks now. I guess they can't make them as fast as they need to replace them. We've been unable to use the LG TV for almost 2 months now. They've placed us "on the list" of customers to be called "as soon as the part comes in". We've had this LG 32" LCD TV for 9 months now and have had use of it for probably for only 5 months because of operational failures. Check back later for the next exciting story in the saga of the crappy LG TV. br / br /September 30th, 2008 and the repair service came and replaced the main board. The serviceman said that LG had engineered the board incorrectly and had to replace them in all LG models affected. Which is why it took over a month to return with a new part. Obviously they couldn't make the corrective boards fast enough. br / br /October 28th, 2008 - the LG TV is now acting up again. This time it's different problems. The sound cuts out for several seconds at a time every 15 to 30 seconds or so. And the picture develops streaks of video "clatter" in random locations on the screen. Sometimes the entire picture just starts coming apart in pieces and we're left with an unviewable image. Placed another warranty service request with Boscov's Repair Service. Check back for further developments.
32LC7D Good for the Money December 27, 2007 Joe (NJ, United States) I just received this LCD for Christmas. Setting it up took no time, and syncing it to my cable box was easy also. The setting with this tv are very easy to set. The user interface is clear and concise. br / br /The next day I picked up my verizon FIOS HD box so I could start using the TV in HD and thats when I had issues. I bought a HDMI cable and the non HD channels were fussy. I tried everything to try and get the picture to look correct but nothing prevailed. I even called up Verizon for support. I came to the conclusion it had to be the HDMI cable. I attached a Blue, Green, and Red Video cable, it corrected the issue. SO in conclusion do not skimp on the quality of cabling you use. Pay a few bucks more for the medium to high grade chords. It does make a difference. br / br /Now every image is clear and crisp. The picture quality I found was better next to the a comparable Samsung or Sony model. For the price, this TV is worth getting. br / br /Also as with all electronic high priced equipment, I would suggest getting a 3 year warentee. Do not skimp on that, you never know what will happen.
Disappointed October 21, 2007 A. Martinez-Perez 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I first bought my 32" LG in August. I had had it for 13 days when it turned itself off and never came back on. I took it to the store and they gave me a new one. It is now October and today it began to switch itself from tv to dvd mode. It then went to one channel on the tv and stayed there. I changed the remote batteries. I tried to change the channel, volume, menu and nothing worked. I then tried to use the tv buttons and nothing. It would only come on and off and stayed on one channel. It then turned itself off and hasnt come back on. I am returning this one tomorrow. I now see that others are having this problem and it frustrates me that it hasnt been fixed before selling more. This has ruined me with this company.
As good or better than Sony and Samsung October 1, 2007 M. Norton (D.C.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Picked this up after staring at it side by side with the sony and samsung equivalents and the picture was the best. br / br /No problems at all, great clean and bright picture, good sound and nice remote. Goes great with your HDTV DVR receiver and the dozens of new HD channels coming online with DirectTv now. br / br /Got the 3 year warranty for 100 dollars which covers everything from pixel burnouts to the tv catching fire. Anybody that doesn't get a warranty and then whines about something going wrong has it coming to them. Regardless of brand, LCD T.V.s are known for having a high problem rate. They are a relatively new technology still.
Save your money... September 22, 2007 M. Lahey (Whitesboro, NY) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this TV on a Saturday and the power supply died on Sunday. The store exchanged it and the second one worked for 41 days before the power supply died. Clearly this is not a quality product. br /Although LG insists that it will be repaired under the 1 year warranty, it's been broken for 34 days now. Remember that it only worked for 41 days. br /Buy another brand and save a huge headache.
