Great Picture January 9, 2009 jammers The picture is great on this tv, and nicer than our DLP or Plasma, which are both 1080p as well. My husband wanted a better refresh rate while watching football games, and unfortunately it is, which means he spent more time watching! The TV does lean forward on the stand (put together by the white-glove delivery guys), but we are planning to wall mount it so we haven't bothered trying to re-attach the stand to see if we can get it straighter.
Sony 46W4100 January 8, 2009 Randal R. Richey (Anadarko, OK USA) This TV rocks. I've read A LOT of reviews on all these new LCD HDTV's. I settled down to 2 major brands. SAMSUNG and SONY. I'm a big Sony fan, but this was an expensive decision and decided to get somewhat educated and not just buy a sony because its a Sony. It came down to the look when final decision was made for me. The screen doesn't glare as much as the SAMSUNG, important to me because I have lots of windows. Also important, tv was going into a cabinet. Samsung speakers are hidden, Sony's right on front. I looked at them SIDE by SIDE, they both are great tv's. THE PICTURE IS AWESOME, SOUND IS GOOD! I've read reviews griping about menu's, remotes not being backlit, blah blah blah. I just want to watch a great football game and see it in HD, and WOW, HD is awesome. And I only have FREE, over the air signals! AMAZON was my next big hurdle, scarey ordering on internet and having something this expensive and fragile delivered. NOT A PROBLEM. Their delivery was TOP NOTCH! JUST BUY THIS THING, AMAZON BEST PRICE, VERY HAPPY WITH THEM!
Great product as advertised January 7, 2009 A. Burkart The TV came in perfect condition from Amazon's carrier whose service was professional and friendly. It came and performed as advertised with no panel damage or any other defects. The only thing I have noticed that is unsatisfactory about this model is the gradients you can see that they discuss in the model/feature comparison concerning the 10 bit processing/panel. My advice is to view the high end sony TVs and its feature list and then decide which features are important to you. Use the comparison chart to decide which model and your decision is basically made for you. Also, you might want to take a look at the cnet reviews. Given the price difference, this model is a great value and I only notice the gradient thing and the backlight dimming (mentioned on cnet) once in a blue moon so it's really not a big deal for me. I have a few other comments on this TV to share: 1) the tv guide feature is awesome... I don't pay for cable but get about 8 or so perfect digital HD channels for free off of the airwaves and the TV guide feature pulls down all the programming information to enhance my viewing pleasure... great feature! 2) If you purchase the product, read the manual and take time to familiarize yourself with all the different menus for adjusting the TV. One of the annoying things about the default settings (aside for the picture mode being way to bright "vivid mode" and burning your eyes up unless you are in the brightest of rooms) is that the TV is set to overscan the image by default. This is a relic from the past and should not be the default in my opinion. To get true HD and view all of those wonderful pixels, you have to change the screen size to full view. 3) Just buy a Sony, or at least something made in Japan. I work in professional AV and we have had problems with products manufactured in China and other countries that don't have the same quality control and labor standards they keep in Japan. I believe Panasonic and Sony maintain most, if not all, of their production lines in Japan at the highest quality. Not only is the initial quality better, but if you should ever have to have these units repaired these companies are much better about supplying parts to repair shops. As the story goes, you get what you pay for and most of us can't afford Pioneer.
Sony LCD Rocks!!! January 7, 2009 Dario M. Solis Jr. (SATX) This was an awesome Christmas transaction/product/gift. The price beat all retail options for my location, very significant savings! Delivery was Free! Delivery vendor called me so I could meet them at my house. They were a week early. I sent them a text when the window of delivery arrived and they texted me back when my house was the next stop. I lost no time from my work day in the office. No tax! Convient galore using Amazon. Product performed perfectly on Christmas day. Family loves it! HEY! Sony Amazon Delivery Results Savings Easy Fast - A total HIT for me!!!
Great looker, great performer! January 6, 2009 MaRx 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first LCD tv purchase, but have many friends and family members with some nice sets.. First off, I must say how amazing the tv itself looks.. Even before I turned it on, I was impressed.. Once I hooked everything up and turned it on, I had no idea the Sony emblem lit up on the front, which I like very much! The speakers are surprisingly good too, although I still plan to use the surround sound I already have, but for those who dont, that's a plus! The picture quality is just incredible! I didnt want to watch the new Batman movie for the 3rd time, since its so long, but I borrowed it (i didnt have any blue rays), put it in and my jaw dropped... Most of the scenes were just amazing! The picture quality in the box stores just cannot do this tv justice! They're hookups are split so many times, the signal is gone by the time it gets to the sets.. WOW! One cannot go wrong with this set at all! I thought the 46" would be too small, but its PERFECT for me and my living situation at this time! BUY THIS TV, its truely amazing!
