Nice Features... but do they all work? December 30, 2008 Charles Evans (North Carolina) Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3FYN1ECIEXVJI The Honeywell Station has many nice features, but the issue is some of the features do not work. We have are still having issues with the wind gauge... but these may be operator issues! Things we enjoy- - Many great features - especially for the price. - A great gift for weather fans! - With the exception of the wind gauge everything works great - including the barometric pressure. - The Base Unit looks nice and has a relatively small footprint. Areas for Improvement - The unit did not come with all of the hardware needed - An INSANE number of screws must be removed to install/remove batteries - The Wind Gauge is still not working - The Set-Screw for the wind gauge is very difficult to access. - The numbers on the screen would be difficult to see if it was wall-mounted. Going into set-up you need the following- - LITHIUM batteries if you live in a climate that dips below 32 degrees. - A good set of allen wrenches - since the one that comes with the unit is useless - Some extra wood screws - since our unit did not come with all of the needed hardware. - Cordless drill or screwdriver. Final Verdict - mixed review - however at this point 3 1/2 stars --- going to 4 stars if we can get the wind gauge to work
Dependability Is Out The Window November 26, 2008 Grebe D Byrd (Wisconsin, USA) We've had our TE821W Weather Station for less than 6 months. My primary purpose for purchasing the unit was to monitor the wind direction because I have an in-town neighbor 150 ft away with an Outdoor Wood Boiler. The thing puts out copious amounts of toxic smoke laced with carcinogens. But I digress. In the less than 6 months we've had our station, the Anemometer died. I replaced the batteries and moved the receiver to within 50 feet of the Anemometer and confirmed that the wind speed/direction/temperature unit is just plain dead.
Screws, screws, and more screws November 16, 2008 D. Peterson (Sacramento CA USA) A great value with good features and function. MUCH better than competing LaCrosse units. One complaint - you will have to unscrew and screw 19 tiny screws to access all the battery compartments. In the case of the anemometer, they are recessed in holes just a little smaller than a screwdriver shaft - so you may have some frustration with the initial setup. Requires a wall-wart in order to use the backlight function.
would not recomend it to a serious weather person at all October 7, 2008 Donald R. Savat 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
purchased a Honeywell TE821W weather station and it does not work well, I had a old Davis weather station and wanted to up grade to a better one., I thought a name " Honeywell" and all the instrument you have, your weather station would be the best. The Pressure stays at 29.8 and does not move hardly at all. I check with my local weather station and its NEVER the same, The Davis was always the same as the local weather station. The outdoors temp keep losing the signal. It located only 20 ft from the station. The weather forecast is always display cloudy. Last week it was the clearest sky I've seen in a long time, but the forecaster on my system said rain. I'm very displease with this unit. I will save my money and get a better one, and it won't be a Honeywell Don Shreveport, La.

Accurate. Easy to set up. Lot of features (some you don't need or know how to use).
