KDL-40XBR3 February 15, 2008 H. A. Mehdi (Arlington VA) I bought my XBR3 just a bout a month a go from JR for $1,599.00 no Tax and shipping I tell you this is the best XBR I have ever owned I also have the first XBR (KDLV-40XBR1) wich I love it has been a great TV it was the top of the line Sony at the time when there was no 1080P TV available in the market(2005)I pay $3000.00 for it compare to the XBR1 the XBR3 has a better HD pictuer but my XBR1 has better Standard pictuer compare to the XBR3.I also check out the XBR4 and XBR5 I did not notice any difrance in the pictuer compare to XBR3 so why pay more if you can get a deal on the XBR3. over all this is the best set if you can find a brand new one for the price I Payed or less DO NOT let it go.
Great TV! January 31, 2008 Minh Do (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This TV looks awesome even when it's not turned on. The blue ray player from my PS3 is crystal clear. It will make regular DVD's look like VHS. This is one of the best buy I've made.
Sony Bravia XBR LCD 40" HDTV September 6, 2007 Calvin G. Dixon (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This TV is fantastic from the picture to the way it looks in your living room. I have Direct TV service with the TV and the Picture looks great in HD and also very good in standard. I also purchased a Sony BLU ray player with the TV and I highly recommend people to do the same. Movies look unbelievable when played through the TV in Blu Ray hooked up with a basic HDMI cable ( No need to buy the expensive Monster ones ). I also have an x-box 360 elite hooked up with HDMI cable and this looks amazing too. Could not be happier with the TV. I have not seen or had any problems with the so called "clouds" when the screen is black, no problem at all.
SONY=AMAZING August 7, 2007 E. Sebar Well just recieving my tv today. I was blown away with the look of this set. Its a totally different look when its finally in your home. After doing so much research on the tv I finally purchased the 40in XBR3..Hooking up the tv was very easy. I have a ps3(havent played in 1080 yet) direct Tv and a surrouned sound sony system all hooked up with the Hdmi wiring. The hardest part was figuring out that I had to program my PS3 to use a HDMI wire instead of the regular 480i cable. The only thing I say I have to do is still adjust my settings on the tv to my liking. Out of the box its a little to bright...I've only played around with the Tv for an Hour so I still have alot of work to do when I get home..But it was well worth the wait, when you actually can sit back and enjoy the picture.
Do not waste extra money on xbr3 July 26, 2007 C. Miele (BKLYN, NY) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This TV is great a product with a great picture and now that some time has passed is a little more affordable than once was. If you are a big movie buff this set has a full pixel setting that can be turned on or off which completely gets rid of the negative phenomenon of overscan that dvd/blu-ray/hddvd players all do to try and fit a movie to a screen. The TV has 3 HDMI inputs, 2 component inputs, 2 composite inputs, an s-video input, a PC input, and a coaxil input, that's 9 inputs, that is what sold me originally on this set over what was out when this first came out last summer. Now if you are interested in this you should buy the xbr2. The only reason that SONY gave the black bezzled xbr3 its "3" is, and I quote as told to me from a sony rep, "It was only to differentiate the market release date otherwise they are the same..." The TV is the same the only difference is it comes with a 12 month warranty and the black bezzled xb3 comes with an 18 month warranty. If that is important to you, what SONY doesn't tell you is you can buy an extended 5 year warranty for 260 dollars from them, so for the same money as the black bezzled xbr3 you can buy the xbr2 and a 5 year warranty through SONY which you have a full year from purchase date to decide if you want (which by the way their warranty is great it is in home so no need to send your set out someone comes right to your house and fixes the issue). The only real flaws of the TV is that it only does 1080/60p unlike some of the newer sets that are starting to be able to do 1080/24p. But that really is no big deal, the TV also only has HDMI 1.2 and not 1.3 like some newer sets which really is not that important when it comes to picture and is more for audio. Lastly the 40 and 46 inch version only does 1080p over HDMI since the 52 inch was a newer release they allowed the component inputs on it to display 1080p also, where as the 40 and 46 inch displays 1080i over component but I would be hard pressed to say whether I even saw a difference on a 40 inch from 1080p to 1080i. Another flaw only with the xbr3 is that the color bezzles they make for the xbr2, even though you can SONY does not want you changing the bezzle to the 3 and therefore voids the warranty of only the 3. The xbr2 you can change the bezzle all you want, matter of fact you can even buy the xb3 replacement bezzle from SONY and put it right on the xbr2- perfect fit (and you'll even have the xbr2 grey one as an extra one). So if there is one thing you will listen to me about, please unless you really want the piano black finish don't bother with the xbr3, but as for the xbr2 and overall picture quality it's as close to perfect as you are going to get right now, and let's not forget how beautiful the floating glass design is.
