Simply The Best November 10, 2008 RSRandy (New Kensington, Pa USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I looked at big screen TV's for over a year. I researched big screens endlessly include many, many hours on the AVS forum. I looked at hundreds of tv's at several different showrooms over the course of one year. I looked at LCD's, plasma, DLP's. I waited for the release of the laser Mitsubishi models, to read actual reviews by real people. We purchased this TV about a month ago. br / br /In brief, this TV is the best that you can buy. The colors are accurate and vivid. The blacks are strikingly black, with details in the black areas due to the newer dark chip in the set. Whites are pure without a tinge of any color. We have the tv in a very bright room with in essence a wall of glass windows and doors. Even with all of the ambient lighting the tv is bright in the daylight. br / br /I am an experienced portrait artist and I know my colors and tonal values exceedingly well. Having said that, I have not adjusted the color settings on the tv. Nothing has been changed since the tv was first turned on. I am quite experienced in electronics and would have no difficulty or hesitance to adjust the picture if necessary but...it's not necessary in the smallest way. br / br /The picture is the best that I have ever seen, even at the movies. You can sit as close as eight feet (even closer in HD)and their is no loss in picture quality. At 10 feet the image size on the screen is about what you would see from a middle seat in a movie theater. br / br /The audio is more than good enough. We listen to the tv speakers almost always but we do have a high end surround system for listening to certain movies or concerts. Once again, the audio for this tv is more than good enough. If you want better then you must buy a surround system. With a picture of this size, I would recommend a good surround system for a perfect experience. br / br /We got it from One Call through Amazon and I would certainly buy it that way again. No problems at all. br / br /I can't imagine and I haven't seen a better picture. I looked at every technology including the LED's and this is by far the best picture. br / br /This is my first review for Amazon. I have used Amazon's reviews to help me with many purchases and I am writing this to help the "community" of reviewers.
Absolutely great purchase!! October 21, 2008 Jerel Singh (Texas) I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with this purchase. If you buy this TV, i definitely suggest buying the matching stand sold by Mitsubishi as well because it's made to fit the tv perfectly. This screen is HUGE and as somebody said before me... it does get to be less overwhelming after a month or so. On the other hand though, whenever I go to my parents house and I see their 52" which I considered a big screen before, I look at it and say "Awe, that's a cute tv". If you get this tv, I definitely suggest a Blu-Ray player to go with it. And as the guy also said earlier... you can really tell which tv companies cheaped out of using higher end HD equipment with a screen this big. Take some time to play with the TV, adjusting sound, video, etc. There's a video/picture calibration tool in the menus somewhere that really shows you how clear this thing is and how great the color contrasting really is. Don't be fooled, if you feel like you're getting a bad picture, it may be the incoming source (cheap HD channel, etc) br / br /Pros: br /-Size!! Tiny Toons aren't so Tiny anymore! br /-Brightness br /-SIZE!! br /-Clarity br /-It already had inputs on the screen for "PS, WII, XBOX" and so forth with a lot of other ones as well... this really comes in handy as I have all 3, and it's easier than "HDMI 1 GAME, HDMI 2 GAME" like the Samsung I have in my room. br / br /Cons: br /-Sound system isn't too great... I installed surround sound not too long after, but anytime I switch back there's a huge difference, I definitely suggest getting a system br /-Takes a couple secs to switch sources, not a huge deal br / br /All in all, I highly suggest this TV unit... everybody that's walked into my apartment has said WOW... and it's fun to get some Wii bowling on it... and things like Madden '09 and Iron Man look amazing.
Problem after 6 days October 5, 2008 Albert E. Lerberg IV (Elk River, MN) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ordered the WD-73736 from Tiger Direct on a Monday. I really liked the look and picture of the TV. It is not quite as good as an LCD or Plasma but then again you won't get 73" for less than 7K in those formats. Setup was o.k. took a little time to get used to the goofy menu. By the end of the week it stopped working. I was able to see it power up but didn't get a picture. Since I didn't make any connection changes I thought the set might need a reset. After a full day of trying everything (including calling Mits CS) I am sending the TV back to be replaced. To Tiger Directs credit, they will be sending a new TV ASAP. The problem seems to be internal since I am not able to pull up a menu or get any picture (including snow) to come from the TV. I am hoping this is an isolated incedent and not something that is problematic with the TV's in this series. Needless to say I am anxious to get the new TV and give it a full workout. I will let you know if I have continued problems. br / br /Al
Amazing picture for the price October 3, 2008 Brendy Sims (Glenview, IL) When I saw the price for this TV on Amazon I thought it was refurbished. It wasn't, it's brand new out of the box. I have high definition cable and the picture I get is the same as a plasma TV. I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing this product through Amazon.
happy in ohio September 30, 2008 Christopher L. Marshall (ohio) The product is just as expected with good delivery time and friendly associates. I would purchase other merchandise from Amazon due to the happiness of the product and delivery.
