Works with wireless keyboard and mouse April 30, 2008 M. L. Dehm (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product because I had heard it would work with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have the Microsoft Wireless 5000 keyboard and mouse and wanted my new Vista platform desktop to share the mouse, keyboard, monitor, audio and printer with my old reliable XP desktop. It seems to work just fine! There's even an additional usb slot for my external hard drive. Everything is connected and working well. The one thing I had problems with at first was that you have to hold the switch button for two seconds (not just a quick click) if you want ALL of the peripherals to be transferred to the other computer. I managed to miss this point when reading the documentation and couldn't understand why I was getting sound from one computer while the monitor, mouse and keyboard were working with the other. I finally caught that trick but it was easily missed if you're installing in a hurry. The upside is that you can put a CD in one computer and listen while working with a memory hog program on the other computer. I would recommend this product.
Good product December 22, 2007 Darryl Meyer The product was pretty easy to connect to both computers, and it's sleek design is great.
Just works... November 21, 2007 Chris Hanson (San Rafael, CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have tried many KVM switching systems in the past, most recently the Belkin SOHO series, and they all seem to have annoying quirks and bugs (mouse tracking gets messed up when switching sometimes, won't work with wireless input devices, etc.). Not the IOGear. Everything worked immediately and I haven't encountered any problems at all thus far. A great little feature is the ability to independently switch the audio and/or USB sources without switching the KVM source. So, for example, you can keep the tunes going on one machine and the sound doesn't get interrupted when switching. Also nice is the relatively small footprint of the unit. The integrated cabling system is very compact and reduces clutter, with all lines wrapped in one cord.
Known Issues April 7, 2006 Book lover (upstate NY) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
My set-up: Dell LCD monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, 2 win XP systems. You can not use the mouse and keyboard ports on this if they are wireless/USB - as the unit won't work correctly. You have to use the 2 USB ports in the back - which mean you can not use a 3rd USB device - and NO you can't connect a HUB and cheat - tried it! Also, tech told me this unit hasd known issues with Nvidia chip-set motherboards and with wireless keyboards........ I guess I didn't know anyone still connected the keyboard and mouse with a wire???? Why would you do that? So if you're running an older system maybe it's ok. Also, the lights are weird - and you have to hold the switch in for 3-4 seconds to get it to switch - and then play with mouse and keyboard to get it to rec. And forget about the hot keys. I spent 2 hours with tech service before he admitted this unit has issues with my type of set-up. THANK GOD amazon is so easy to return - gonna try masterIT has 29 5 star reviews. I'll let you know.
IOGEAR KVMP Switch March 22, 2006 Patrick Hickson (Churchton, MD USA) This switch is the best I've owned so far, and I've owned five. It's works, it works fast and it works using hot keys so we can switch from one computer to the other with no troubles.
