I wanted something that would allow my husband and I to be on our DSL at the same time. This did not allow us to do so. I was disappointed. Perhaps I did not understand it's use. Everything connected properly but it only allowed one internet line to be used so it was not what I expected or thought I bought.

I have not gotten to use this item yet. Apparently, not just any ethernet cable will work with your specific modem. so do your homework!!!

As soon as my RJ45 splitter arrived, I hooked it up, and got my PC online.
The construction is sturdy, the connection solid, and it does what I need it to do. This RJ45 splitter has a short cable attached, so there is always room to plug it in, and run the cables where you can get at them easily.
I have cable internet. I thought about going wireless, but I feel that a direct cable is more reliable. But how can I take my internet connection into another room without having to reach behind the modem, to unplug the cable, and restring it every time. Solution: keep one cable on the desk, and run a 25' cable into the living room (following the wall, tucked under the moulding). With an RJ45 splitter, I can leave the cables where I have them, and only have to unplug my PC when I change rooms. This isn't much trouble, as I always disconnect my network cable for extra security and surge protection. This splitter works great for this purpose.
NOTE: I haven't tested it yet, but I feel certain that you *can't* use it to put 2 PC's online at the same time on the same modem unless you have some special service in place.
