Awful TV and Horrible Customer Support January 3, 2009 Sharon A. Pearson (Colorado) Bought this TV and had problems right from the beginning to the point that is was unviewable. Westinghouse then replaced it with a refurbished TV (unbeknown to me since I was told they were replacing with a new unit) that arrived with problems. The refurbished unit also was of lesser quality even when new. The customer support people are nice enough however they do nothing for you. I will never buy another Westinghouse anything after this ordeal.
Displays black and gray details in shades of red December 9, 2008 DW (Green Bay, WI) We purchased this LTV32W3 TV 18 months ago and it worked great until it started to display black and gray details in shades of red. This problem would come and go randomly and started to happen more and more often. The problem occurred on any input channel such as coax, composite, and HDMI. It also occurred from any source such as antenna, Cable, VCR, and DVD. I'm an electrical engineer, so I tried everything that I could to resolve this issue, but nothing helped so I emailed Westinghouse service. Westinghouse service was helpful and offered to exchange the unit, provided that I send the unit to them in CA at a cost of $42. I didn't have any other options, so I sent the TV in on 04Oct2008, and they estimated that a replacement TV would be sent in 3-4 weeks. This is where things got irritating. I spent the remainder of October and November calling Westinghouse for a status update and expected delivery. Their call center does not have any of this data, and said they were emailing someone in the warehouse, but no responses were ever received. The call center supervisor (Vivian) was pleasant and returned my calls, but she was not able to offer additional information either, although she was also emailing someone in the warehouse. Maybe her influence did speed up the process, I don't know. I just received a refurbished SK32h240S on 01Dec2008, 8 weeks after sending the orginal discontinued TV in. I'm dissappointed that it took this long. I'm not thrilled that it's a refurbished unit and that it only has a 90 day warranty. I'm also concerned about the reliablity of this TV after reading it's reviews. I am personally telling my friends and family to stay away from these smaller non-reputable brands.
DO NOT BUY - CLASS ACTION SUIT SUBMITTED ON 11/16/08 November 28, 2008 Value Seeker 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased LTV32W3TV in 9/20/07 and began having problems with various colored screen distortions and sound. I was told by Westinghouse Customer Service that it was a integrate computer problem.I was to send it to them.I shipped it to Westinghouse Digital Electronics in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. 90670 on September 26, 2008 at a cost of $89.85.. They received my TV on October 2, 2008. I was led to believe they would replace it with same model or new model. However, I learned later it would be a refurbished TV. I have contacted Westinghouse Customer Service some 14 times, always asking them where is my TV. They always tell me the status is unknown, even though their records show they received the TV. I have spoken three times with their supervisor (Vivian), who continues to tell the same story. Status unknown. On November 15, 2008 I stated to Supervisior Vivian, I am in the process of requesting a CLass Action Suit. I submitted a request for Class Action Suit to Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP on their website on Nov. 16, 2008 As of November 19, 2008 Westinghouse Customer Service now stated my order is now in process. We will see!!! My investigations reveal: BBB Santa Fe Springs, Ca shows 250 various complaints with Westinghouse. Also numerous complaints on TV's , [...] and Crutchfield.
Approach with caution May 5, 2008 Jason C. Roberts (Barberton, OH United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
We purchased this TV from Best Buy less than two years ago. We "needed" something affordable to "maximize the abilities" of the XBOX 360. I foolishly did not review this product beforehand. After reading through the reviews today, I would say use caution when approaching this TV. This morning the TV will not turn on. The screen remains black. If somehow it does manage to start, it is only for a second and then stays very dimly lit, as if you are looking at your laptop screen when it is running on its battery as compared to when it is plugged into the wall. I am calling around for repair quotes and finding them to be rather expensive to start. Westinghouse will not help me at all. The TV was fabulous while it lasted, but I can't say it was worth $350 a year.
Worked 22 mos then NOTHING April 25, 2008 Erin RDH (VA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this t.v. in June '06 and had no problems for almost two years. Today, I turned on the t.v. and it powered on, but the screen just stayed blue (back light, I think). No sound, no picture. I unplugged it and powered up...same thing again. The t.v. will not shut off via buttons (only unplugging it works) and I can not pull up the menu or switch the source. Called Westinghouse and they are going to replace it, even though its warranty has been up for 10 mos. After reading the other reviews about replacements, I'm a bit worried! Up until today there have been no major problems, although the t.v. likes to turn on by itself and the menu button works sporadically. Other than that, it's been great. Hopefully, Westinghouse doesn't send me a lemon.
