Great TV Sharp Aquos January 8, 2009 A. Bhardwaj (New Jersey, USA) Sharp Aquos LC42D85U is the best LCD. We loved it; the picture is crisp and clear. Sound quality is also very good. We would recommend this LCD. No issues(cons) so far.
As good as it comes January 7, 2009 Jacques Abramowicz (Chicago, IL USA) This is an excellent product. It is a 1080p with 120hz, which is supposed to be the latest and the fanciest. First, it's very easy to set up. Of course, HDMI connections are preferable and produce an outstanding image in HD. I researched many models before buying and decided on this one. (For a 46'one I might have gone with a Samsung). I've had a smaller Sharp LCD TV (36') for 3 years now without any problem. This one has no dead pixels, blacks are black and the sound is very good. Obviously, connection to a home theatre is ideal but the TV itself is more than sufficient. Can recommend without hesitation.
42" Aquos January 6, 2009 D. Lombardo Very pleased with the 42" Aquos. Appearance, picture, and sound are top of the line.
Fast Delivery--parents are thrilled January 5, 2009 A. Pietras (Florida) Purchased "blind" as a gift for our folks. I haven't seen it, but they can't stop talking about how nice it is. Ordered on Dec. 19 and received the free Blu Ray player for them as well; the price was a great deal for the package. I was additionally shocked when the TV was delivered in less than 5 days--right on Christmas eve--"CEVA" was the shipper & I am impressed! There does seem to be a volume issue with the Aquos--my folks say it doesn't get much louder than "normal" volume. I tried to research a solution for them online & I came across a lot posts reporting the same problem with many Aquos models. I will see it in February & will re-post if there's anything new to share.
LC42D85U December 31, 2008 Brann Mitchell We just received the 42" LC42D85U and we're mighty impressed. My biggest worry (other than total destruction during shipping) was the banding. I have read about the 'bandoulette', some Aquos TV's have it and some don't, and so far it is not noticeable on mine, so I think this set is spared. Phew. Speaking of shipping, we had ours shipped from 6th Ave Electronics, where they boxed the box. The outside box was pretty bashed up and the packing material allowed the TV box to rattle around inside. The TV box was perfectly fine, however, and more to the point, the TV works perfect! It's my first LCD TV, so I'm naturally floored by the picture quality. We dont' have cable service, just rabbit ears, but the TV still found over 40 channels OTA. The Hi-Def stuff is pretty amazing, blacks are pretty black with amazing texture detail in things like tuxedos and shadows. Even the SD stuff is tolerable, but I have noticed that some of SD content (news, mostly) can looked a bit washed out. I'm convinced this is the content and not the TV. We did have one issue where I tried to change the volume while it was changing channel (which is pretty slow) and the analog channels lost their sound. Turning off the TV from the side and not the remote fixed that. Great TV!
