Customer Reviews:
Excellent Product December 23, 2008 Notmy Realname (Los Angeles, CA United States) I bought this unit in Dec 2005, and it's still working well. Works as advertised, and I've only had to reset the unit once in 3 years. It comes with a 250GB hard drive, and you can find instructions online to replace with 2 larger drives. I replaced with 2 X 750GB = 1500GB storage. (Note: if you want to replace the drive, make sure you buy drives with the correct interface, I *think* this uses IDE) The one downside is that it's not compatible with the new HD satellites, so it can't receive all HD channels available. DirecTV called us and wanted to replace this unit with a newer model (HR21 I think), but based on reviews I decided to keep my HR10-250.
Amazing device April 27, 2007 P. Waterman (Long Island, NY) 8 out of 15 found this review helpful
It took me years to catch on to the TiVo thing... and just as DirecTV was killing it off in favor of their junky HD-DVR I got one, plus one for my Dad and girlfriend. Wow. And when hacked they are about 8 million times cooler still, to quote a forum geek.
