Amazon.com Product Description Offering outstanding quality at a reasonable price tag, the 8200dp from Xerox is one of the few solid ink printers on the market. When compared to inkjet and laser printers, the output quality of a solid ink printer is impressive, making the 8200dp perfect for a wide variety of high end business and graphics applications. The solid ink print method, along with a 1200 dpi maximum resolution, results in finely detailed prints with outstanding color consistency. Print speed for black and white clocks in at around 16 ppm, with a 9 second time-to-first-print. Able to handle plain paper, transparencies, bond up to 40lbs, labels, envelopes, glossy paper, and high-resolution photo papers, the 8200dp easily creates professional quality brochures, presentations, flyers, and more. A 200 sheet main paper/ transparency tray, 200 sheet legal paper tray, and a 175 sheet (100 sheet label) transparency tray come standard, with an optional 500 sheet tray (up to 2 can be added) providing extra input capacity. Networking the 8200dp is a snap and a variety of network administration tools are provided. A wide range of connectivity options are provided, including Ethernet, Parallel, and USB. PC and Mac compatible, the 8200dp also comes backed with a one year parts and labor warranty.

A good printer July 12, 2003 F. A. Soares (Modesto, Ca USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using this printer for about a year now and it has been performing well. I is installed at a school on our network. It was easy to set up and connecting to it is fast and easy. The only complaint that I have is that it must stay on all the time; otherwise it eats up about an entire stick of ink. The print quality is good, the time per page is reasonable and the doubles sided feature saves the school quite a bit of paper. Overall I would recommend this printer, just be aware of the ink problem when shutting down other wise its great.
not so good June 18, 2003 m. hayes (los angeles, ca United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
the print driver and post script were changed from the old 850s. it does not render white or light colors very well. if it is not pure white at 255, 255, 255 it will print dots. it is very grainy with pictures. it does print solid color nice, but it drops candy specs on all printed areas which causes more ink loss. the old 850 would yield me about 1000 prints now with 8200dp i get less than 400 in yellow, and magenta. xerox's own tech support said the old 850 printed better graphics than the new 8200.
Perhpas the best bet for small businesses January 14, 2003 B. Young (NY, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The DP model of the Phaser 8200 line is the best value. It offers the 1200 dpi photo mode, which yields excellent results and some of the most lifelike prints I have ever seen. Be warned: the printer needs to be kept on all the time (or you lose 1 ink stick each time it is restarted). This inconvenience aside, this is a remarkable machine. It prints very fast, with great 1st page out time (exactly as touted by Xerox) and the same great quality with each print, no degradation. Well worth considering.
Great for a small office December 7, 2002 Lara (Phoenix) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love this printer!!! Vibrant colors with the wax sticks, ease of use, quick install, and fast, fast fast... It even printed beautifully on my textured stock paper! My only two complaints are that the standard paper tray that comes with the unit only holds 1/2 a ream of paper and that the automatic feeder will only allow you to feed one sheet at a time.
