| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Leica heralds a new era in binoculars! The Leica Duovid 8 + 12 x 42 is the first high end binocular worldwide that features switchable magnification. As a birdwatcher, you can now rely on a single binocular that flexibly adapts to all activities. With the 8x magnification, it provides an absolutely steady image, a large field of view and a great depth of field for an outstanding overview. Then, by switching to the 12x magnification, you are right there, close to the action. Its exceptional imaging performance enables you to discern even the smallest details - even in critical poor light situations. As a result, with the Leica Duovid 8 + 12 x 42 you are perfectly equipped for every bird-watching situation.

Top Notch September 23, 2003 Michael A. Benacka (Merrionette Park, Illinois United States) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
After using the lecia 10x25bca's while birdwatching in Central America I decided to move up a notch and try the duovid's. After seeing guides use the russian optics I was hesitate to purchase these. But what a difference!!!! These are as bright as any bino's I've used. The quality is top notch. The engineering is very user friendly. A bit heavy compared to the 10X25's but you get two magnification's for the price of one. Great for use at low light situations (dawn till dusk). The manual suggests WATERPROOF to 8 meters but swimming with the Duovid's is not of my list of things to do.
