3 out of 5 stars Good but....   November 24, 2008

This is a nicely made antenna which will be unobtrusive when mounted outside. It has 4 robust telescoping elements which pull out from the body 67 inches tip to tip. It has an indoor control box with remote which allows you to "rotate" it in 45 degree steps. I put quotes around "rotate" because it does this electrically- not physically turning as with a rotor. While it can be rotated using the remote control it is NOT a Smart Antenna which is rotated (usually in smaller steps) in a similar fashion under the control of a Digital TV converter such as the Tivax STB-T8. The DTA 3500 does NOT HAVE the control connector needed by a Smart Antenna. br / It has an amplifier mounted in the antenna that is effective in increasing signal strength. The Amp can be turned off with the remote control to avoid overload with strong signals. It will then pass the unamplified signal through. The on/off control is directly addressable- not toggled. br / It compares well to an indoor set top antenna but falls far short when compared to a good amplified rooftop antenna. I am in Connecticut- about 70 miles from the New York stations whch come in well with my rooftop rig but are totally invisible to the DTA 3500. From the stations it gets from here I would estimate the DTA 3500 has an effective range of about 40-45 miles. br / Overall- I think it deserves 3 or 4 stars- as a pretty good suburban antenna, well made, and attractive looking (as antennas go). It will not satisfy those looking for good long distance reception.

Easy to install, and the instructions led me through all the way. Perfectly clear picture and reception, I don't have to do a thing after it does its initial scan for channels.

3 out of 5 stars Good product   October 20, 2008

Bought this product because I live in an RV full time. Most of the time I has satallite, but in some parks because of trees, etc it is not possible to use. I had a full size antenna all summer. When I replaced that, with this product, it seemed to work just as well and will be a lot easier to transport. did not try it with DTV box, so can't comment on that.

5 out of 5 stars Great Antenna   October 12, 2008

I didn't expect much because our mobile is out in the country and they only get 3 stations on a good day. Well, we got 6 stations and it is just like looking at cable tv. We do have that dtv box but the antenna keeps the signal coming in clear and it is great!! No complaint but for info only, make sure your coax cable is in good shape because if the small amount of electricity that goes from the antenna receiver box can't get to the antenna, the box will shut off and the antenna will not work.
