Amazon.com Product Description Enjoy all that high-definition television has to offer with Panasonic's CT-27HL14 27-inch TAU series HD-ready TV. The CT-27HL14 comes packed with features to create the ultimate home entertainment experience. The 3-line digital comb filter separates color from black-and-white accurately in a television signal. As a result, it improves overall color sensitivity and image clarity. In order to enjoy high-definition TV you must connect the TV to a DTV set-top box and a DTV signal must be present in your area. Parental control give parents ultimate control over what their children are watching. You can lock out up to 4 channels, or choose to lock all channels with other selectable options. A 4-digit code needs to be entered to deactivate the lock. Parents can also prevent the use of video games or other video sources from being displayed. Other handy features include a sleep timer, multilingual menus, closed captioning, bass and treble balance, and the TV comes with a universal remote control. Enjoy virtual surround sound without the elaborate home theater system. With only two speakers it can simulate cinema-like sound when playing any Dolby Digital DVD or Video DC. BBE high-definition sound also improves dialog intelligibility, and music is converted to a more natural sound, providing for crystal clear audio. There are two side speakers, which provide 7.5 watts each. Connect to digital sources like DVD players and satellite systems using component and S-video inputs for the best possible picture. Other available connections include one front and three rear A/V inputs, A/V program out, and stereo audio out (fixed and variable). What's in the Box CT-27HL14 27-inch television, universal remote control, 2 AA batteries, user's manual, and warranty information.

Great TV for the price. January 13, 2010 Jay G Hancock Of ALL of the TVs I have purchased, Panasonic has always come through time and again with high quality electronics. I still have a 19" "Pana-Black" TV I purchased in 1999(ten yrs ago!) that still works as it did the day I got it. I was just Googling this particular model (ct-27hl14j) looking to re-purchase yet another remote control that has been lost or broken, after many years of use & abuse by people that didn't have to pay for it. I purchased this 27" in 2004, from a Curcuit City that I got a markdown price of $400 because it had a large gouge on the front of the plastic button access door. In the last six years it has been dropped multiple times between moves during travels with my job, a large dent in the side, and door on the front has been ripped off due to missuse by people other than myself. I have still not experienced any problems with this model it's picture quality is still just as good as the day I bought it, although the 19" I bought a full decade ago is only now starting to dim and darken. For it's picture quality an reliability alone I highly recommend any Panasonic, but only if you want to get a great deal for your money, and your dollar to go far beyond expectations.
Another unsatisfied owner July 18, 2009 Elementary Teacher (Virginia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this TV a few years ago, and we were very happy with it. However, one morning it just stopped working. We don't watch a lot of TV so it has not had a lot of wear and tear. It should have lasted longer than it did.
Not worth the money July 29, 2007 Alan Stokes 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this television in early 2005 and the picture went out a couple of months ago (May 07). I paid around $600 for it at Circuit City and from reading the reviews, I don't guess it will do any good to contact Panasonic and will not be worth the money to pay for it to be repaired. I have a Panasonic 40" LCD Projection TV that has been working fine for 4 years but I will not purchase another Panasonic television ever again. Do not waste your money!!!!!
Nice HD set June 18, 2007 Frank J. Monahan (Houston, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the price, I am much impressed with the picture on the Panasonic, the HD pics are very sharp and clear. At the time I bought it (2004) there were no other HDTVs close to the price. Still today it has provided me with trouble-free operations. I highly recommend it for a smaller HD set
Be very afraid....If you own this set. January 31, 2007 Mark Lahren (Bismarck, North Dakota USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I bought this set on 10-21-05, I did so solely by comparing picture quality at the store I bought it from. I unwisely did not check for online reviews first, since I've purchased TVs before, all of which lasted a good long time. And I've trusted the Panasonic name, having had good luck with their products in the past. And to be honest, this set has the sharpest, clearest picture I've ever seen, which was the reason I bought it. Like some others, I've not yet hooked to HD service (I bought this set to be ready for the future), and I did have a helluva time getting the SD picture darkness/lightness/color/contrast settings to my liking. But once I got it all set to my liking, I still hold that my SD picture looks so startlingly good, visitors have thought they were looking at HD.
Then, I wandered over here to Amazon's review site, where I immediately got worried after reading about the troubles. But I figured the people with problems were far more likely to post than people without problems. And so, for 15 months now, I've been enjoying this TV quite a lot.
This morning however, I went to turn it on, and noticed the red LED power light was blinking. Hmm, I thought, maybe the power went out overnight or something. But no, it had not. And even when we've had power outages in the past, this never happened. I pushed the power button, and nothing happened. It just kept blinking, three or four blinks, then a pause, then more blinks, on and on.
To get to the power cord, I had to remove this 100 pound beast from my entertainment center, which is not fun. I unplugged it, went to eat breakfast, came back, and plugged it back in. Suddenly, it's working perfectly again...for now. But having read other reviews here, I am suddenly very afraid. I'm scared that it's only a matter of time until it fails altogether. I'm scared that I never bothered to send in my registration form. I'm scared that after 15 months, labor is not covered anymore--only the picture tube itself is for another nine months--possibly only IF I'd sent in my registration. I'm scared because I paid $500 for this set, and I'm far from able to afford another set. I'm scared of wrecking my back hauling this behemoth to a repair center, only to ultimately have to pay for either an expensive repair, or disposal.
I'm rating this two stars instead of one, only because I got lucky for the moment, and it's currently working normally again. And the picture is phenomenal once you've spent a few weeks messing with the adjustments. But owning a relatively expensive item should not fill a person with fearful anticipation every time he turns on his set.
