Amazon.com Product Description Transform your home theater with the brightly colorful 37-inch Akai LCT3785TA LCD HDTV. You'll enjoy 480p, 720p and 1080i high-definition viewing right out of the box thanks to the built-in digital ATSC tuner, which pulls HD signals right from the airwaves. You can also connect the set to an optional receiver or cable/satellite set-top box using either the HDMI or component connections. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. The LCT3785TA has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 176-degree wide viewing angle, and a super-fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which minimizes blurring of moving images and is especially helpful for sports and action movies. It also offers a 550 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating and a 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) Other features include color temperature settings (cool, middle, warm, and user-defined), MTS/SAP stereo audio, a sleep timer, last channel recall, picture zoom and freeze, tri-lingual on-screen display (English, French, Spanish), and V-Chip parental controls. The bottom-mounted speakers produce 7 watts of power per channel for 14 total watts of power. It offers the following connection options: - Composite AV (RCA): 2 in
- S-Video: 1 in
- Component video: 2 in
- HDMI: 1 in
- PC VGA: 1 in (with PC audio mini-jack input)
- RF: 1 in
Tech Talk HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections. Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound. What's in the Box LCD HDTV, stand, remote control (with batteries), printed operating instructions

The first disappointed was 3 months later the price was dropped to $899. It's now stop working. What I will do in the future is I will stay away from Akai.
JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!! P.O.S TV and CUSTOMER SERVICE December 2, 2008 J. Holt 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought an akai lcd tv about a year ago, it had a year warranty on it. The picture went out on it 2 days before the warranty went out. my wife e-mailed them, because that was the only way we knew how to get ahold of them, they never replied. My wife called the website where we bought the tv and got a number to call, when she called Akai(junk) they told her that the warranty was over. All though she explained that we have been trying to get ahold of them before the warranty went out, they still told her it had expired. If you buy this brand of tv your asking for trouble. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BRAND OF TV'S TO ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND!!!!!!!!!!Spend a little more money and get a GOOD tv. There customer service(if thats what you want to call it) is the worst i've ever seen. ****B-E-W-A-R-E-**** DO NOT BUY
I wouldn't buy it again May 18, 2008 Aldo Vargas 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It has a nice colors and great image. Sound is not impressive. It has only 1 HDMI input, although the 1 S-Video, 2 component and VGA inputs are adequate. PC display works fine, but its highest resolution is only 1024x768. The remote control is really bad: it cannot control multiple devices and switching between TV modes is slow and sequential. It lacks of an auto-voltage regulator, which you should buy separately. After 6 months of minimal use I had go to repair it. In summary, the display is good but there are better options.

I bought this unit brand new 5 months ago. It quit working after 3 months. AKAI has done nothing but give me the run-around. You would be nuts to buy this or any other product from this manufacturer!
