Visual Quality (without zoom): 5 Stars br /Visual Quality (with zoom): 3-4 Stars br / br /This inexpensive lens covers a niche marcet for Full High Definition camcorder fans that have to operate in a narrow or small area where space comes at a premium. br / br /This wide converter lens is what you need when you want to double the wide view of your favourite camcorder !! br / br /The super wide angle allows you to extend the view from a face-only video snapshot to a better room-like overview. br / br / br /Example 1) Imagine you want to record something that is physically close to you. br / br /Perhaps somebody you are going to interview somebody who is sitting right in front of you on the sofa. The orignal video lens will perhaps cover 50 cm of the sofa. br /With the super wide angle you will be able to cover 100+ cm of the sofa without having to move an inch !! br / br / br /Example 2) Imagine what this means in terms of a Panorama view. br / br /I was recording a recent Fireworks in Japan featuring a wide starmine set br /(4 starmines). br /(If you havent seen a starmine fireworks think of it as a water fountain. ;-) br / br /This lens allows me to capture at least 2-3 of the 4 starmines. br /The original lens would have captured 1-2 max !! br / br / br /Example 3) Imagine you would like to record the northern lights, stars etc. br / br /The lens allows you to treasure a panorama view of the sky, the stars, the northern lights or any open space you can think of pretty close to how you see it with your own eyes. br / br / br /The lens comes with adapters for 27mm, 30mm, 30.5mm, 34mm, 37mm and 43mm br /connections. In other words it fits to most personal camcorders. br / br / br /--- br /Be aware that adding any additional lens in front of your camcorder itself will change the quality of your video experience. Currently, there is a limited choice for super wide converters with a factor of 0.5 in the marcet and Raynox is re-known for good quality of non - genuine parts in niche marcets. br / br /As expected, working with zoom on this wide converter will introduce a new set of issues, but not as strong as with the HD-3032 PRO - for most users the casual slight degradiation might be well acceptable. br /(less light sensitivity, contrast,sharpness, details, additional colour fringing etc.) br / br /Note that the HD-5050 PRO does work reasonable with zoom. After all its declared as fully zoom compliant - or whatever is the professional term. br / br /When strongly zooming in this lens shows much less degradiation (then the HD-3032 PRO). br / br / br /Summary: br / br /If you want to extend the view of your favourite camcorder behind of what your orignal camcorder maker offers (usually 0.7) this lens offers a reasonable compromise between price and performance. br / br /In certain situations (strongly zooming in) you might whitness a degradiation of your Full HD video experience but its much better than with the HD-3032 PRO.

Having just bought a Hidef camcorder, this is the best accessory to buy. The Raynox came to my attention thru a video forum. No its not a brand name but the price is reasonable, not half the price of the camera, more like 1/10 the price. The lens is a zoom thru adaptor, this means you can use the full zoom of your camera instead of being sharp at the widest and going out of focus at the middles of zoom. Sharpness is excellent, though wide open it does soften at the edges when fully wide. Very little visible Chromatic Abberation. That is it doesn't show a color fringe on a sharp edge. It has a 62 mm thread on the front and comes with adaptors to fit it to various lenses, the base thread is 37mm which fits my Sony perfectly so I don't use a adaptor in my case. In short I use it as if it was my normal lense. So it stays on my camera all the time.
