4 out of 5 stars Good monitor   April 13, 2008

Firstly great bargain and working very nicely with a graphic card. br /You won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   December 16, 2007
Ruben (Curacao)
I ordered this monitor at Amazon and have been using it for two weeks now. br /I like it a lot. br /The color on mine is very good, no dead pixels and the image is very sharp. br /In the menu - not the best menu I've seen - there are a couple of presets you can quickly switch between (movie, text, user, graphics, standard) but I just keep it at one setting. br /The built in speakers are a handy extra and they are nicely hidden out of sight, don't expect great sound quality though. br /The positioning adjustments are very limited, just minimal tilt. br /On a black screen there is some bleeding at the edges, but hardly noticable when watching a movie. br /But what it should do, it does very well. br /All in all I'm very pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars Trust The Reviews -- I'm Glad I Did!   November 27, 2007

First the pros. There is a WEALTH of information from other reviewers on what a superb this monitor is, so I'll very quickly touch on what I love about this monitor. br / br /Pros br /---- br / This monitor is BRIGHT when the brightness is turned all the way up. The image quality is excellent on the native resolution of 1680 x 1050. Both text and images are sharp and the color rendering is good. br / br / The monitor is HDCP-compliant so it is able to display encrypted audio/video digital content from HD-DVD, Blu-ray, or other media. br / br / This monitor looks nice -- The very slim profile and a narrow bezel around the screen makes it very elegant. br / br /Now the cons. br / br /Cons br /---- br / br / Backlight Bleeding br /As many have noted, this monitor has a backlight bleeding problem. On my monitor, there is a slight glow on the bottom right edge of the screen noticeable only when the monitor is displaying very dark backgrounds/images. For me, it's not bothersome because the bleeding doesn't detract from the clarity and sharpness of the display. br / br / Speakers Are A Joke, Right? br /I can _barely_ hear the output from the speakers even with the volume cranked up all the way. So, if you're counting on the built-in speakers -- don't! br / br / Monitor too bright br /Some people have complained that the monitor is too bright even at the lowest setting. I don't find that to be a problem at all. But if I want to dim the monitor further, I have a utility that comes with my Nvidia graphics card to do so (the brightness can be brought right down to where the screen appears almost black) so check to see if your graphics card offers a similar utility. I must point out too that the brightness on LCD's (CRT's and Plasma's for that matter) will diminish over time so brightness is a good thing. br / br / Limited adjustment on the monitor stand br /This can be a biggie for some people, myself included. I got an br /Ergotron LX Desk Mount Arm - mounting kit to mount the monitor on so I am now able to move/rotate the monitor every way imaginable -- thanks to the articulated mounting arm of the Ergotron. br / br / Cannot be converted to HDTV br /Sometimes refered to as 1080p, the HDTV mode has a screen aspect ratio of 16:9 and requires 1,080 lines of vertical resolution. Therefore the resolution required to support HDTV is 1920 x 1080 (ratio 1920:1080 = 16:9). This monitor maxes out at 1680 x 1050. Bummer. br / br /Personally, I'm very happy with this monitor and I'd highly recommend it. However, the above are some important considerations so you might want to take into account before making a decision. br / br / br /

5 out of 5 stars Nice clear monitor   November 22, 2007

would buy again if need another one. Colors are crisp and screen is clear. Actually brighter than the 19" Samsung it replaces.

4 out of 5 stars Acres of screen for under $200   November 21, 2007
Julian Kroin (indianapolis)
My beautiful 19" Samsung CRT just died. It wasn't even sick? Thought my system had crashed. Bought this baby thinking it would be distorted with my aged ATI Radeon Sapphire(soft-modded 9500 to 9700)video card. But I will probably need a new rig anyway. Not only do I get the highest resolution, but it doesn't appear to be stretched. Not sure how this works so well with my olde video card. The screen is bright as others have stated. Be worse if it were too dim, LOL. My only question is, what do I do with all this screen? Seems to be wasted. As though the website expands to the space allowed. Large empty spaces instead of compact small empty spaces. So a small page becomes an acre. I called up the game "Aces High" and the screen did show some horizontal stretching. Minor and ultimately playable. I have a DVI connect on my video card (surprise surprise). I tried that first and no image at all. Couldn't remember if "I" or "O" is on for the power switch. I think it's "I" (German?). No image at first with the analog connector either. I finally got the analog to work. Maybe the power cord was not properly seated after turning the monitor upside down to access the connectors. Not much room there to work. Never revisited the DVI option, partially because of the difficulty connecting things in that small space. It should work. I'm pleased so far (1 day). No obvious dead pixels. About the price. $229 less $30 for signing up for an Amazon (Chase) card. Sweet. Good deal snag it!!
