Wanted a second power supply for my laptop so I didn't have to unplug and plug the power supply into outlets when going from room to room. So far this has been working great and the plug into my laptop is very solid and secure. The unit doesn't seem to get any hotter than the original item that came with my laptop.

The adapter is much bigger than the HP's original adapter that came with my laptop. The length of the cord is also shorter than the original adapter and it heats up considerably. I am now facing a problem with it. The power supply is interuppted intermittently. I would strongly suggest you to invest little more in a better adapter.

Don't waste your money on this item, spend a little extra money and time finding the OEM HP ac adapter if you're looking for some quality. This will get hot to the touch and in my case, it lasted only 7 months before the plug would not charge any more.

This power adapter was a good deal at $38 and works well, usually. Occasionally I will plug the adapter into my Pavilion dv6000 and the battery meter will say, "plugged in, not charging." When it says that, I have to check an make sure all the parts of the adapter are completely connected. That will usually solve the problem, it's not a big deal, but it is annoying.

This plug wasn't very good. It's different than the picture shows. It works sometimes but the plug doesn't fit very well. You have to fiddle with it to get it to work at times. It comes out really easily too. Sometimes you can be working and it will come out and you could be at half batter when it should have been charging.
