Great value for money! October 17, 2007 PCGuy (IL, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This monitor has a very crisp and clear picture and is well worth the price. I have been working on PC's and it has been my hobby for over 17 years and I am very happy with the picture quality and clarity of this monitor. Acer has been making monitors and computer parts for decades so they know their stuff!
It's GOOD September 18, 2007 old man lloyd 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It goes to 1680 x 1050 resolution. the pic is very nice. br /I have had it for 2 months and it functions perfectly. br /The only beef i have is that it does not have a adjustable stand. The stand on it is kind of short so i propped it up with some old books. Unless you must have full HD resolution this monitor is a good choice.
Good performer at a modest price June 18, 2007 A. Vander Meulen (Boston, MA USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I recently purchased an Acer X221W for my parents as a replacement for their dying CRT monitor, and both they and I are quite pleased with the unit - it works well, is easy to read, and has not had any problems. br / br /Although not as full featured as my Samsung 215TW 21" LCD Monitor (nor nearly as heavy!), it is an excellent choice for those looking for a flat panel replacement for their CRT, or as a monitor for a low-end to midrange computer. It will do well for standard "office" applications, home use, and has specs that should be more than adequate for most gamers. br / br /I have seen some confusion as to the contrast ratio - some vendors of the unit list it as 1000:1, while most list it as 800:1, I strongly suspect the 800:1 ratio is closer to the truth. Regardless, the monitor is very viewable, and has a reasonably good response time - though when viewed side by side with my above-mentioned Samsung, it is obvious which unit is a higher end product. br / br /Graphics artists, video editors, and others deeply into multimedia or high performance graphics applications will probably find this monitor to be lacking in terms of features, color, contrast, and viewing angle. But then again, this is a lower end unit: selling for around $300 - and so is definitely not a solution intended for use in such demanding applications. br / br /Acer has produced a monitor that provides very good quality at a reasonable price. I have no qualms about recommending it to potential buyers looking for a good, inexpensive, general purpose monitor. br /
