4 out of 5 stars Longevity is okay, charge time is good, good replacement battery   March 22, 2008

An extended battery was one of my first accessory purchases for my new Tilt. The battery originally shipped with my phone was only 1350mAh, and lasted only about 8-10 hours for moderate use. br / br /This larger battery lasts about 1.5x longer, so around 15 hours (or more, I haven't let it drain completely, yet). This wasn't a huge increase, but it does let me use the phone for roughly a full work day. My usage includes push e-mail during the day, with numerous incoming and outgoing text messages, and maybe 30 minutes of talk time. br / br /Charge time is excellent in my opinion, it took around two hours to charge the battery from 20% to 100%. br / br /The back cover included with the battery fit the back of the phone exactly. The cover bulges out an extra 5mm or so, and creates a small shelf on the back of the phone (it actually makes the phone just a bit easier to grip, especially with the keyboard extended). The cover is painted with a grippy material which feels the same as the original cover. The color is a very close match to the original, too. br / br /Note that you'll need to carefully pry off the protective rubber GPS connection flap from the original back cover, and put it on the replacement cover. It's easier to push the flap's little rubber hook through from the inside; pulling it straight out may rip the hook from the flap and may also damage the original back cover. br / br /And, to remove the battery cover from a Tilt: hold the phone long wise and upside down with the USB connection facing towards you, and with both thumbs next to each other at the bottom of the back cover, push the cover to slide it "up" and off the phone. There's enough grip that this works, but expect to exert some downward and forward pressure. Do not try to pry the cover off, only slide it off: the attachment points are tiny and made of plastic, and could be damaged easily. (There's a review out there that says to pry the cover off using a tool or sharp edge; I'm amazed they didn't damage the phone in the process!)
