Very good picture, great price November 17, 2008 WorldPhotographer The picture is very good, and you just can't beat the price. I was a little concerned, since the competition usually starts $100 more expensive (remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for"), but I have been very satisfied. A great little remote control (Don't loose it!!), decent menu system, and very good picture quality. I have no comment on the sound, since I don't use it for sound at all. br / br /Lots of memory option slots (4, I think), and very easy startup/auto viewing of pictures. Gets a lot of rave comments when we have guests over, and I have recommended it to all of my friends. br /
$199? Are you joking? October 20, 2008 Coug Moog (Charleston, WV USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Look at every single other frame offered by Amazon for under $200. br / br /Do you see any 12-inchers? Nope. A 10-incher or two, then it goes to single digits. br / br /And this Opteka does a better job than any of the other 15" frames I've seen. It not only takes your picture cards, but also your standard run-of-the-mill thumb drives. Looks great and the price is right. br / br /Yes, you have to find a way to get the cord to stay in when you hang it on the wall. But that's a minor issue solved quickly with Duck foam double stick tape. This is a must-have office accessory. br / br /Just be judicious about what photos you display on it in your office. You never know who may stop by--and this frame will be the first thing they notice. br / br /It's that good, and will be your most-appreciated gift.
Fantastic September 10, 2008 GFP Books (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic digital frame and a great buy. I had no problem at all with the set up and operation. It took just a few minutes before wonderful photos were passing through the frame. Also, I had no problem with the cords or adapter. They fit very nicely in all compartments. A terrific item.
Fantastic Frame!! August 10, 2008 ColoradoCAD (Davis, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased the Izzy Frame and returned it because it would not play the pictures if there are more than 900 pictures on the thumb drive. br / br /I then ordered the Opteka. It is a great frame: great screen; takes most cards; including an 8GB thumb drive so you can continue to add pictures; plug and play (you insert card and turn it on and it automatically plays the pictures). I have 1800 pictures on the thumb drive so far. One drawback, if you have a long thumb drive then it does not fit inside the back door and the door must remain open. Also, the audio player does not seem to recognize my MP3 files downloaded from I-Tunes so I have not been able to play music.
Extremely good...not perfect July 6, 2008 Stuart J. Cohen (Washington, DC, USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Like others, when I saw the name "Opteka" I was hesitant to buy the product, but the smaller version (11.3") had good reviews so I decided to purchase the 15" version. br / br /The product looks sharp with a real wood frame. The 1024 X 768 display is the highest resolution display I saw and provides crisp images. The instructions are adequate and I got the product working quickly using a 2 GB SD Card. The product can also use XD, Compact Flash and several flavors of Memory Sticks. br / br /The input files are limited to JPEG and AVI Motion JPEG. If you have photos in other formats, you will need to convert them to JPEG. I have not tried the video features of the frame, just the still JPEG features. br / br /The manual states that the product can handle 12 megapixel JPEG files and the product handled my 7.1 megapixel files with no problems. br / br /Pictures shot in portrait mode in a 7.1 megapixel file had to be resampled to a resolution 576 X 768 pixels, otherwise both the top and bottom of the picture were cropped out, even when the frame was set to "Optimal Mode". In other words a 7.1 megapixel picture of my fiance with a resolution of 2304 X 3072 pixels would result in images where half her head would be missing until I resampled the picture to 576 X 768. br / br /The instructions stated that the product only supports JPEG files "taken from" digital cameras and may not support files "from" some software applications. I edited some of the pictures using Canon Easy PhotoPrint EX and Corel Photo-Paint X3 to correct Red-Eye or to resample the resolution. The resulting edited photos displayed on the product with no problems. br / br /The product contains two speakers to provide music to go along with the slideshow. The sound is nothing to call home about, but that was not a feature I bought the frame for. br / br /The product has a clock feature, but has no mode other than the setup mode to display the clock. Once again this feature was not a feature I bought the product for. br / br /The product must run using an AC to DC adapter. To attach the adapter, one must remove a panel from the back of the product. Once the adapter cord is installed in the jack, the panel can not be replaced on the back of product. I just left it off. br / br /The product has a support that can be attached to allow the frame to stand upright on a desk. It does not have hooks to allow it to be hung from a wall. I attached a string to the two top thumbscrews used to attach the support mount on the back of the unit. I then hung the unit on the wall using a strong hook, for the unit is a little heavy. br / br /The unit has control buttons on its back. It also has a remote control. br / br /In all this is a solid unit, providing a great display. I am quite happy with my purchase. br / br /
