1 out of 5 stars Stay away from this tv mount   August 16, 2008

This mount is the worst thing you can spend your money on! As usual I purchased this product based on favorable reviews, but they must be planted reviews by the seller. This mount is rated for tv's weighing up to 220lbs. I planned to use it on a tv weighing 70 lbs. With 70 lbs on it the arm sagged more than 2 inches; yes 2 inches! It was very unstable in every direction! I called the seller, spoke to "Chase" and he had no idea of these issues or what it was rated for. He was very prompt to offer my money back, which I found irritating because he didn't care about the issues. BTW: getting my money back met that I pay return shipping and a restocking fee on a clearly defective product which they plan to keep selling.... Spend a little more and buy the Omni Mount....

5 out of 5 stars Make sure you get the RIGHT version of this wall mount   July 22, 2008

First: Look at the other images of this mount. You will notice one vendor has placed an image of the twin arm version of this mount. That's a HUGE improvement in design and stability. I ordered from that vendor, paid less, and received the twin arm mount as shown in the photo. br / br /The thing is a rock! It is hard to move my 52" Samsung LCD around, but if it was easy it would be flimsy...or much more expensive. There was a lot of hardware provided to mount different models of TV's. Unfortunately there were not long enough bolts to reach the threads on my Samsung. I took the bolts from my Samsung to the hardware store and bought longer ones that did the trick. br / br /Here's my tips for mounting this: br / br /1. Mount 3/4" plywood to span 3 or 4 studs instead of just two. Then attach the mount to the plywood. The weight of a big flat screen will apply tremendous torque on the wall when the arms are extended. Spread that load. br / br /2. After you attach the back plate of the mount, adjust the side to side slant of the front plate to ensure it is level. This is the plate you will hang the TV on (via the two "hook" bars). br / br /3. Use two people to lift the TV onto the mount. Also, use two people to adjust the tilt if needed. Why risk it?

3 out of 5 stars Best deal for the money!!   April 2, 2008

Let me divide this review into two parts. First the product then some hints on self installation. br /This is a BIG bracket. That said, it is a great deal for the money. It is closeout priced yet they appear to have many. Please note they come in two colors so be sure to find the right one. I think they are black or silver. If you want an articulated bracket this has the best price for the buck I've found. It comes with bolts to hold most tvs to the arm but like someone else noted go in and tighten every bolt you can reach up. There is a minor (but major if you don't know about it) design flaw!! The "arm" is what you bolt the tv to. It hooks on the top of the wall bracket and is tightened with two screws to the bottom of the front bracket to hold it in place.(keeps it from sliding from one side of the bracket to the other) The screws are too short to grab the bracket securly!! This is why I gave it only three stars!! The store that sold this to me called the company, they do not have longer screws!! You either have to buy longer screws or do what I did which is to take a couple of the extra bolts it comes with and stick them in between the arm and bracket to keep it from sliding.(it's actually easier than it sounds once you look at how it's sliding and how to stop it with the bolts.) PLEASE make sure you do this before you start pulling your tv away from the wall and letting go of it for the first time or your tv will wind up on the floor!! Once you stop the sliding it's a wonderful bracket. It will move over 2 feet from the wall and pivot over 90 degrees in either direction. br /Now, the installation. I hope this is redundand information to you but if it isn't I'll again keep your tv off the floor!! This is a big, heavy bracket capable of holding the largest of flatscreens. That said, when the tv is putted away and turned it is creating tremendous torque on your wall. Do NOT fix this bracket itself to your wall. Cut a piece of plywood(at least 3/4 inch thick) to at least a few inches wider than two of your wall studs. Screw the plywood to the wall (through the studs) and screw the bracket to the plywood. Please note: alot of wall studs are metal, if you screw into them with abandon (not thinking) they will spin free in the metal rather than grabbing which makes them useless!! Do NOT try and anchor screw this heavy bracket to your wall even with the biggest anchors it will only be as strong as your plasterboard, which isn't nearly as strong as a thick piece of plywood! br /Happy viewing, Steven.
