HD stands for "Huge Difference" September 5, 2008 Shawn Hazen (Chicago, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were woefully unprepared for how crappy normal TV would look. That's a compliment to this excellent TV (and HD in general) but it meant we had to scrap our digital cable and get DirecTV. We also didn't have the right cables to hook up all our stuff. But all that's our fault. We just got the thing because my 10-year-old 32" block was kind of an embarrassment. This was one of the better prices for a name brand HDTV, though it was more than we needed to spend. I think it was worth it, though, because we have no complaints about the color, picture quality, or features. It was easy to figure out once it was hooked-up. And the design is clean and not as gaudy as some others. I'd highly recommend it if you're ready to make the jump to HD. Just be ready for the surprise, and to shell out some more dough for new cable and new cables.
Sweet Buy July 21, 2008 Falkingood (Pennsylvania) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This TV has a beautiful picture. I bought a Samsung because the vividness of color was unmatched in the sets I looked at. My only regret is that I mounted it above my fireplace and wish it was a 46" or 50". A TV a bit larger would have been nicer there. At this point though for $899 I couldn't go wrong. This will probably end up in the gameroom as I replace my tubes one by one. Nice buy!
Everything you can ask for July 8, 2008 Ranga Kalakuntla 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This TV is amazing and is a good deal for the price. br /Eventhough its advertised as 720p it can go upto 1080i. br /Picture Quality and Sound quality are excellent. br /TV looks really cool. br /It has all the ports you can ask for. br /Shipping took about 6 days but for free shipping i think that was fast enough.
Gets 5 due to price July 3, 2008 John Grace (Grand Haven, MI) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
For the price, at the time of purchase, you couldn't beat this TV. Delivered to your door, and taken out of the box which also is a big plus. br / br /The TV is large, the image is crisp and clear, bottomline is that it works. If you've been reading TONS you'll notice that there are some slightly brighter screens that produce deeper blacks etc. So yes, you CAN get a slightly better image but at a much higher price. I've had it for several weeks now and have never said, "oh, that black isn't as deep as I want". Fantastic product.
Great TV. Great Price June 16, 2008 Zack (Dallas, TX) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I wasn't really planning to purchase a TV for another six months, but I happened across this model at 900 bucks on Amazon and decided to pull the trigger. For a 40 inch TV, 1080p is unnecessary. br / br /I knew I wanted one of the Name Brand (Samsung, Toshiba, Sony, Sharp, LG) TVs because of some poor experiences my friends have had with other brands like Vizio and Dynex. br / br /And while this is the older entry-level model from Samsung, the major differences (in addition to 720p vs 1080p) between this model and the more expensive ones largely came down to one fewer HDMI inputs (2 vs. 3), a lower contrast ratio that is still good enough to clearly distinguish many shades of black in a brightly lit room, and a slower refresh rate that might matter if I were playing a fast-paced video game, but hasn't been noticeable at all for watching TV (including sports) and movies. br / br /All in all, for a price that comes in 30% or more below similar sets, I couldn't be happier.
