poor pre order info November 9, 2008 Michael K. Moody (sutherlin, oregon United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
How about letting customers know before they get this warranty that br /it must be obtained within 60 days of tv purchase. You will only get this info. after the extended warranty purchase is completed. :(
Satisfied With Purchase So Far November 1, 2008 M. Wood (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Due to the cost of the LCD Flat Panel type televisions I feel they should come with a better manufacturers warranty then they do. However the cost of the 3 yr Samsung Extended Service Plan is reasonable when you look at possible repair costs. After doing some checking around I found the Amazon cost was the lowest. I purchased the extended service plan because our last TV was Sony 52" rear projection that did not have an extended warranty. The Sony lasted only 3 years before there was a problem. We ended up having to pay for repair and a new part (tv's main computer chip) with the cost being around $350 then the TV lasted only another couple of years before the same problem happened again. At least now I know that if there is a problem with the television I can call on Samsung for assistance. Hopefully Samsung will be there to help if and when I need them.
Quit complaining! October 10, 2008 B. Denski (Saint Petersburg, FL USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have read through most of the reviews here and their complaints are a joke. First off, the fact that it overlaps the first year with the manufacturer warranty. You're absolutely right, it does go along with the manufacturer warranty but what I also see is people acting like it's to no benefit. The most recent reviewer was from Florida, as am I and they were complaining about this same issue. This warranty adds surge protection towards your television as the manufacturer warranty does not. When living in Florida, to me that is a great add-on to have. You have no idea how often the power flickers or goes out because of surges in the area. That could cause some serious damage to a television and then what would you do when it wasn't covered in the manufacturer warranty? Secondly, the fact it takes so long to arrive in the mail. They can also email you a copy, but regardless, who cares how long it takes? It's just going to be stuffed in a drawer somewhere anyways and it's not like they won't have your information on file if something did go wrong with your television before it arrived. And thirdly, it is high priced, and it is usually just a safeguard and a lot of times won't be needed. I get warranties on all my high priced items and a lot of times I don't need them. There's just those few occasions I do, and it makes it all worth it to me to have my products repaired or replaced then having to buy a new one. Would you spend two-hundred dollars to ensure you won't have to spend another 1500-2000 to replace your television in the next 3-5 years? I know I would. This might not be too relevant to "this" warranty but I had an extended warranty on my laptop, a wire was knocked loose between the board and the lcd, and they replaced the whole screen for me. You tell me that you wouldn't appreciate having a brand new screen if it broke after a year or two. To me, this warranty is worth it.
Pay for 3 but really get 2 September 30, 2008 Larry P. Adcock (Tampa, FL) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am not happy to tell you that my understanding of the word "extended" was not the same as what this service plan explains it to be. The first year of my "extended plan" has double coverage. This review should let you know that you will need to read the details before of this plan before you purchase it.
