There's no doubt that there are better printers out there, but none for this price. br /The photo prints that I've made seem a little saturated and dark, but that's compared to the laptop LCD screen which is back-lit. Also it appears there are ways of adjusting the color balance but I haven't bothered, mostly because I like the look of most of the pictures that I've printed. Besides, if you want a photo printer - go with an inkjet. The only reason I NEEDED a laser printer is that I print something once every 2-3 months, and in that time, inkjets dry up. I was replacing ink every time I printed anything, and that gets expensive. br /The startup time is a little lengthy, but for a home printer it's not bad. Text is crisp and sharp. br /I have it connected to my home-office computer, and shared among the computers on my wireless network, so that any of them can print to it. That works quite well, even though the comp that it's connected to is an old Win2K box. br /So, I say that if you're wanting to go color laser - this is a great place to start. br /

I ordered the printer from Amazon; shipped and rec'd in good time and condition. Directions to setup simple and straight forward. br / br /Thought I was done. Started back to work, printed some docs with some color diagrams. Particularly the imagery was blury, almost as if they had shadows. Uhg, open and read manual; no help. Call HP customer support; now to their credit, "Bob" was helpful and patient. Patient because he explained my printer needed calibrating; 3 times worth. Then download and install latest firmware; oh, and calibrate 2 more times. Each calibrations cycle seemed to last 2 or 3 minutes; but I wasn't timing it. Printed off some test pages, good, problem solved or so I thought. br / br /Next came this "spooler subsystem app" error. Uhg, what is this; google find out it's a .dll problem; going to require regedit. Ah no, I'm going to take a short cut and restore xp to yesterday setting so I can get back to work. Nope, that won't do it. Mind you, I can't print off the directions either. [..] br / br /Follow the instructions, reinstall printer. What do you know, it works again. Folks it just shouldn't be this hard. I thought I was going to alleviate these problems by buying HP? Maybe next time. br / br /So I've printed 100 pages or so now and for the money, I'm satisfied with the results. Would I recommend to a friend, reluctantly...

So far so good,no complaints.When I first set it up, it took a LONG time before it was ready the program was loaded. once the connection to the computer was lost for some wierd reason. I checked all of the cables but it had nothing ot do with it, so I turn it off restarted it.that seemed to solve the problem. other than that the print quality is great, very quiet. Oh every now then it will make nosies like it is recycling then be quiet again. The printer is huge btw , so make sure there is room to put it somewhere.

PROS: low price, prints sharp and clean, quiet printing. br /CONS: won't handle all paper stock. Warm-up time is 1-2 minutes. br / br /I bought this printer to replace my 14 year old Hp LJ 4MP. I assumed the CP1215 would be capable of doing the same things my old one did and more in color. br /My immediate need was to print out baby shower invites. The card stock was within the limits of HP's recommendations, no thicker than a 4x6 card. The printer would print 1 invite, then error out with "misprint". After 20 minutes of making sure I removed all the tabs and protectors that HP ships with and making sure this model supported 4x6 card stock, I found a way to get the rest of my stock printed. I had to press the resume button, causing it to reinitialize the warm-up sequence and then print. Took 30 minutes to do 30 invites. br / br /This printer seems fine to print every day stuff. But if you print specialty paper, size and type, be aware it might not handle the paper well.

Out of the box, set up was a piece of cake. Installation a breeze. Big difference between my Deskjet and Laser - wow! Prints are quick and color is exceptional. Amazon's Price made it possible for me to own a laser printer - thank you Amazon. Delivery was very, very fast.
