The product would have been great, however, it arrived with a defective TAB key. October 18, 2008 R. Weiner I really liked this laptop but when it arrived the TAB key was defective. After a few days of hoping it would work itself out, it did not, therefore, I had to return the item. Unfortunately, there was not a laptop available to replace this one so I was given 100% money back. Too bad, I liked this laptop, but ended up shopping elsewhere and buying something even better.
Poorly Designed Touchpad - Vista stinks August 27, 2008 Papatone 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The touchpad is not countersunk into the palmrest like on my previous Toshiba (it is all just one flat piece of plastic). The touchpad does have a different texture though, but since the touchpad is not countersunk, it is too easy to rest your palm on the touchpad when typing, which causes the cursor to jump all over the place. Yes, I've tried adjusting sensitivity settings and even the palm sensitivity setting which has helped some but it is still quite annoying. I have to contort my left palm while typing to avoid cursor miscues. VERY ANNOYING! br / br /Also, there appears to be so much junk running in the background that the hard drive is constantly grinding away. I disabled much of the software but there still appears to be a lot of overhead running with Vista. While trying to use Windows Movie Maker, the one song I have in the movie cuts out more and more, with only 20 pictures in the slide show, each time I play it. I can only assume, Vista is consuming all of the memory. All in all, this computer doesn't seem to perform much faster than my old Toshiba with a Pentium 4 processor. br / br /And one last thing. The wireless G connection has less range than my previous Toshiba. I actually had to move my wireless router closer to the computer for it to work properly!! br / br /I should have bought a MAC.
First real laptop August 3, 2008 JapFan (Chicago) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is my first new laptop, and despite of it's hefty price tag, I do like what I've purchased. Everything from the memory, and even the included webcam suits my needs in both business and personal aspects. The only thing(s) I don't like about it is that for starters, it's heavy. I could do arm curls with it. And i'm not with the scroll pad because a small page turner indicator always popped up in the middle of my scroll, so I purchased a mini mouse. The final thing about this laptop is that it is a bit pricey. Even the lower models starts off at 600 bucks and above. I don't know if Toshiba is genrally a pricey brand, but if you got the strength and the bucks, I would recommend it. If not, I would try something else.
